Kevin Owens and John Cena
By far the biggest highlight during the build to Money in the Bank has been the war of words between NXT champion Kevin Owens and United States champion John Cena.
This feud has been executed to perfection thus far.
While all wrestling fans wish Cena acknowledged his losses a bit more and admitted defeat from time to time, this battle has satisfied all types of wrestling fans. The Cena fans get their man doing his act, and the people who hate the 15-time champion have a top heel they can get behind.
From the two men simply standing toe-to-toe running each other down to Neville coming down to pick which man he’d rather fight, the usually terrible WWE Creative managed to tell one of the most interesting and complete stories in a long time.
Dean Ambrose’s Faux Run with the Title
While Rollins was busy getting pinned by J&J Security, Dean Ambrose was running around making the WWE Universe laugh in New Orleans with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. It wasn’t a legitimate run with the title, but it was the perfect chance for WWE to test the water.
Ambrose will be a world champion for real one day.
Until he gets his chance at holding the title, Ambrose has decided to take it upon himself to be the most entertaining part of this entire main event storyline.
Even with the understanding that Rollins is almost guaranteed to retain his title, Ambrose has still done everything in his power to help the fans have some fun with the angle.
Despite Rollins being booked poorly, Ambrose has been a highlight.
R-Truth on the Mic
While R-Truth has been relegated to a pre-show match against King Barrett, the unheralded star has been one of the most entertaining parts of Raw and SmackDown during the build to Money in the Bank.
Watching R-Truth hit the stage and talk about conquering his fear of ladders, only to be told by Kane that he would not be in the Money in the Bank ladder match, was one of the highlights of the go-home episode of Raw.
Add in his performance on SmackDown where he called Byron Saxton by the name Coach and Tom Phillips by the name JBL, and he has been a gem during the build to Sunday's show.
