Dean Ambrose Must Be Carefully Booked at Money in the Bank to Maintain Momentum

Tom ClarkJun 12, 2015

Dean Ambrose has been carrying the WWE World Heavyweight Championship since the Elimination Chamber event but he will soon have another chance to legitimately win it. Money in the Bank is the place where Ambrose will get his shot but win or lose his booking must be right so can maintain his momentum.

Momentum has definitely been on Ambrose's side since even before the Chamber took place. His popularity has arguably never been higher after going full throttle at Seth Rollins. WWE's most hated heel has had the Lunatic Fringe hunting him down and fans have been having been reaping the benefits of it all.

This has been one of the more entertaining storylines of recent memory. Watching Ambrose get the best of an irate Rollins while Roman Reigns laughs it up has been like watching three brothers at odds. It's been a nostalgic trip but a very important one, as it has put all three former Shield members on the main event scene.

But Ambrose is the one that has risen above the rest. Reigns had his shots at the title and Rollins has held the belt since WrestleMania 31. But this has been a true test for Ambrose, one that gauges crowd response and also spotlights him as the next possible champion.

Fans have given their stamp of approval and Ambrose has basically become a made man. Seeing him as WWE world heavyweight champion before may have seemed like a stretch but now it's very obvious he has the ability to not only carry it but make it very compelling as well.

The worst thing that could happen for him is to lose steam at Money in the Bank. So much has been done to get him over and that should not go away because of a loss to Rollins.

The booking must be right here. Ambrose cannot straight up lose the match. Rollins can lie, he can cheat and he can steal but he must not climb that ladder and pull down the belt without some help. Though his longstanding union with The Authority has appeared to have fallen apart, that does not mean it needs to remain that way.

Rollins is the champion that's been wholly dependent upon Triple H's group to lend a hand when needed. Every time it seems as though he's going down, Kane or J & J Security has been there to help. That does not need to change now.

Some fans may argue that continued assists from others cheapens the championship and perhaps makes Rollins look weak but nothing could be farther from the truth. Rollins is a heel and heels typically cheat, which means he will take every advantage he has to win the day. The more he cheats, the more he's hated and that is a good thing.

Bending and breaking the rules is also good for Rollins in terms of keeping him going until Brock Lesnar returns. The Beast Incarnate will likely want to destroy Rollins once he gets within 30 feet of him and that feud is better served if the champ has already been portrayed as somewhat cowardly. Watching Lesnar chase a terrified Rollins would be of enormous entertainment value and WWE is surely aware of that.

So if Rollins is meant to go over on Ambrose, it should be by illegal means. All Ambrose has to do is look the part once again.

Ambrose must be allowed to control the majority of the match. Fans must believe he is a viable contender, one that beat Rollins at the Elimination Chamber and one that can beat him again at Money in the Bank. Ambrose must be relentless, fighting and scrapping for every ounce of offense he can muster.

He must be the bulldog in this match; he cannot let up and must tear Rollins apart. But just when the title is at his fingertips, he must be stopped.

Fans have to view Ambrose as the man that was robbed, the Superstar that would be champion had it not been for outside interference. It must be obvious that he would be the man and can be, if only he gets a fair shake. That idea alone will allow him to save face and maintain his momentum past Money in the Bank.

WWE needs true main event stars, ones that are believable and have the ability to win any match they're booked in. Building Ambrose up only to let him fall will not help him or WWE in the long term. He must be allowed to continue his upward movement if he is to become a true moneymaking star.

Of course, if Ambrose were to win, then the question of preserving his momentum will be automatically solved; until the following Monday Night Raw. If The Authority were to strip him of the belt and then kick him back down as it once did to Daniel Bryan, then it's over for Ambrose.

The Lunatic Fringe would have to settle for the bottom of the heap and would once again become an entertaining star that loses more matches than he wins. Any other possible scenario on that Raw may be good for Ambrose but would perhaps keep him in the title picture long term, which is something WWE may not be planning.

Ambrose could potentially come out of Money in the Bank even stronger than when he goes in but that is out of his hands. WWE must come through for him and book him the right way; it would be crazy not to.
