Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens and More from the Authoritative Mailbag
Tell any young WWE Superstar that he will be paired with The Authority as WWE world heavyweight champion for the next six months, and it will sound like a dream come true.
Unfortunately, that's where the nightmare begins.
WWE is establishing a pattern of booking heel champions from The Authority to look weak. This, in turn, makes The Authority look incompetent—and everybody loses.

(Back)hand-picked champion?
"@ThisIsNasty Why is it that if you're the champion representing The Authority (Orton/Rollins) you get booked weak? Ex. Interference in match
— Mo No Mentum (@WeaponIQ) June 11, 2015"
Great question. Seems kind of backwards, doesn't it?
Ric Flair was able to build a Hall of Fame career on outside interferences and chicken heel antics. But there's only one Ric Flair. Flair's act as part of The Four Horsemen wasn't a template as much as an outlier by the greatest in-ring performer of all time.
Because WWE is booking Rollins as the spoiled world champion who needs help to win all his matches, his stock continues to decrease. As I mentioned on the PodNasty Wrestling Podcast, his reign is such a joke he can't even manage to hold on to his own title.
WWE's pattern of The Authority's handpicked champion is sucking the life out of top stars. Things can turn around, however, if Roman Reigns turns heel and wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship under The Authority's tutelage. WWE still seems to have big plans for Reigns and wouldn't have any qualms about booking him to go over clean in matches against top babyfaces.
Reigns will offer a different dynamic if The Authority uses him as its muscle rather than its prince.
Stray Wyatt?
"@ThisIsNasty why is Bray Wyatt off the PPV again? Wouldn't it be better for him to face reigns or something?
— Joe Kestenbaum (@JoeKestenbaum1) June 11, 2015"
Perhaps WWE feels Wyatt falls under the "attraction" category. Much like The Undertaker, there's a certain mystique to Wyatt that quickly burns out with overexposure. Still, it's quite concerning that WWE didn't bother to put him in the Money in the Bank match.
As I feared, Wyatt continues to languish since his loss to Undertaker at WrestleMania. Had he won that match, he would have forced WWE to make him a priority and book him strongly every time he appeared on television. But since his claims of being The New Face of Fear were extinguished, he's as close to the midcard as ever.
Moving forward, Wyatt's potential opponent for SummerSlam is anybody's guess. Other top stars seemed to have programs lined up whether it's Rollins-Triple H, Reigns-Ambrose or Rusev-Ziggler (health providing).
Wyatt is currently in no man's land. He needs something, anything, to become relevant again.
The "J" in MNM?
"@ThisIsNasty since Joey Mercury is in the ring, does that make Johnny Nitro/Morrison the Jannetty?
— Jordan Smith (@JSmith_FOX6) June 8, 2015"
This was a more valid question when The Miz won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. As talented as Morrison is, he never quite reached the heights or relevance of either of his former tag team partners, so the answer is yes.
There was never a point where Morrison was a weekly fixture in the WWE main event picture. This was the case with The Miz in 2011, and it's the case with Mercury now, though he's in more of a lighthearted role.
Morrison always looked like he could be a top star but never had the dynamic promo ability to get there. Even if he were still around, I see him having a career arc similar to Dolph Ziggler as someone who broached the main event multiple times but never quite stuck.
Who's the NXT top heel?
"@ThisIsNasty With Owens getting fast-tracked to the main roster, NXT is left without a top heel. Who steps up to fill the role?
— Collin Powell (@CollinCPowell) June 8, 2015"
As hot as NXT is right now, it will have long-term struggles performing a balancing act with its roster. NXT must retain and create new stars to sell tickets on the road while preparing said stars to slowly (and I mean slowly) transition to the main roster.
Once Owens makes the full-time transition to WWE, NXT would be wise to finally give its women's division the permanent main event billing it deserves. After Owens, the top heel in NXT is Sasha Banks, and it isn't even close.
If NXT positioned the women at the top of the card while building up younger, more unheralded talents like Jason Jordan and Bull Dempsey, the brand wouldn't have to worry about taking a step back when its coveted prospects jump ship.
This is also where the relaunch of Tough Enough will come handy. Win or lose, there should be a small handful of contestants who connect with the audience and can walk right into NXT with a reputation.
Bank, Owens, Bank?
"@ThisIsNasty could Owens be a surprise participant of MITB ladder match, even with his rematch vs Cena ?
— Ross (@RossByNight) June 11, 2015"
Seven is a weird number of Money in the Bank participants. Only one time in Money in the Bank history have there been seven participants in a match. If Owens somehow beats Cena again, it would almost be foolish for him not to compete in Money in the Bank.
Owens could take over that potential Reigns role as a replacement for Rollins in The Authority. The seeds are already planted. Triple H and Owens briefly appeared on camera together following Owens' debut, and The Authority expressed intrigue in Owens before Rollins entered the room and mentioned that he was superior.
The only reason I think he probably won't be a surprise entrant is that thorn around his waist known as the NXT Championship. WWE needs to get that title off him before he can make any serious moves up the main roster. He has a match looming against Finn Balor at Sumo Hall in Japan on July 4.
To win Money in the Bank after potentially beating Cena twice but lose that match seems backwards.
