LeBron James Needed IV After Cavaliers vs. Warriors Game 2 Due to Cramping
LeBron James emptied the tank to the tune of 39 points in the Cleveland Cavaliers' 95-93 Game 2 win over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals on Sunday, so much so that he required an IV after the massive victory.
According to Chris B. Haynes of Cleveland.com, the four-time NBA MVP suffered from cramping, which has become commonplace for him in the NBA Finals in recent years:
The cramps certainly didn't impact King James' performance, as he scored at least 39 points for the second straight game (a streak he would extend to three in Game 3).
This revelation comes shortly after news broke that Cavs guard Matthew Dellavedova spent Tuesday night in a Cleveland hospital due to dehydration. Per ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst, the gritty Aussie is now feeling much better and will be fine for Game 4: "I felt like a pushed the limit a few times. That's the most tired I've been. I'm feeling good now, though."
The Cavaliers' depth is certainly compromised with both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love on the shelf, and that has forced head coach David Blatt to give his most trusted players big minutes.
James has played at least 46 minutes in all three games of the Finals thus far. While his minutes total has clearly taken its toll on him, he is perhaps the most freakishly gifted athlete in the world, which makes him better prepared to handle the workload than just about anyone else.
