Nelson Returns to Practice
Wednesday, June 10
Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reported Nelson participated in Green Bay's organized team activities on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"We're right where we want to be," Nelson said, per Demovsky. "We set a plan at the beginning, and we're hitting every target. We feel good and like I said a couple of weeks ago, we'll be ready to go by training camp."
Nelson underwent surgery this offseason to "clean up" problems in his hip, per the Journal Sentinel's Tom Silverstein. It's unclear when he suffered the injury, but the Pro Bowler and the Packers have done their best to downplay the situation from the beginning. Nelson played in all 16 regular-season games, making 98 receptions for a career-high 1,519 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Football Outsiders' DYAR metric ranked Nelson the second-best receiver in football, behind only the Pittsburgh Steelers' Antonio Brown. Pro Football Focus' wide receiver rating also had Nelson second, with teammate Randall Cobb eclipsing him.
While he's yet to fully participate in practice—Nelson sat out the 11-on-11 portion of Wednesday's workout—all signs are he'll be ready by training camp. Barring a setback between now and then, he'll be good to go as he looks for a second straight Pro Bowl in 2015.
