Ryback Deserves Marquee Victory over Big Show at WWE Money in the Bank 2015
When Ryback shocked the world and walked out of WWE’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view as the new intercontinental champion, wrestling fans were torn over whether this was the right booking decision.
With Ryback squaring off against Big Show at Sunday’s Money in the Bank PPV, it's clear WWE made the right decision and should give the new champion his first successful defense against one of the top veterans in the business.
The Intercontinental Championship was Ryback’s first singles title at WWE over the course of his entire career, and he deserves the honor. He has worked hard to improve in the ring and on the mic and has been one of the most consistent wrestlers in the company over the last several years.

WWE officials should build Ryback as a legitimate top star, and making his run with the IC title memorable is the best way to do so. His win at Elimination Chamber was unexpected, so he needs to continue winning to prove the victory wasn't a fluke.
While there is no doubt Big Show is viewed by the WWE Universe as a big jobber the company uses to get its other top wrestlers over, he is the perfect first opponent for Ryback. Not only can the champion beat the challenger clean, but the match will also spawn a huge moment when Ryback gets Big Show up on his shoulders and hits the Shell Shocked.
Beating Big Show will also help him continue to build momentum with the fans. Not since his run in 2012 has Ryback drawn such positive reactions, and slamming Big Show, whom most fans do not like, will help him build credibility with the WWE Universe.
It's not just the fans Ryback is building credibility with, though. The Intercontinental Championship was put on Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania to help bring legitimacy back to the secondary title, but an injury derailed that. With the belt on The Big Guy now, the company is hoping a big push will help both the star and the belt around his waist.
WWE now hopes Ryback's reign with the title can accomplish multiple goals. Not only does the company want the champion to be built into a top star and the belt to be held in higher regard, but WWE also wants the midcard to be stronger.
Ryback's beating Big Show would be a great first step on the road to legitimacy.
