Tag Team Elimination Chamber a Successful Showcase of Division

Alfred KonuwaMay 31, 2015

WWE's tag team division comes and goes, and right now it's in a mini boom period.

The first-ever tag team Elimination Chamber match was an effective showcase of every tag team in WWE. Each was made to look strong at some point either through pinfalls or spectacular spots.

Based on the performances of every tag team, WWE has reason to establish contenders and future matches between the Elimination Chamber participants.

The division is now wide open. The Ascension, who were previously doormats, impressed with multiple eliminations, while Kidd and Cesaro—the consummate No. 1 contenders—finished in third place.

Despite having six participants in the Elimination Chamber, WWE has additional tag teams that should figure into the tag team championship picture, from Luke Harper and Eric Rowan to the Meta Powers.

And this is all with the Usos on the shelf.

Not only does the division have a pulse, but it's thriving. Tag team championship matches have escaped the doldrums of the pre-show and moved into more prominent spots on pay-per-view cards.

When WWE added an extra hour to Raw, many hoped tag team wrestling would be one of the beneficiaries. This hasn't been the case for the most part, but the additional live-event programming on WWE Network just may be the answer.

If Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose weren't on such a collision course toward a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match at Money in the Bank, a tag team championship ladder match would be in order.

The new-found success of The New Day as heels will continue to serve as a strong anchor for the tag team division. With relevant champions and a talented pool of challengers, tag team wrestling will only continue to grow in WWE.
