Notable Matches Completed on Sunday
Ivanovic Outlasts Makarova

It took three sets, but No. 7 Ana Ivanovic pushed past No. 9 Ekaterina Makarova to advance to the quarterfinals on Sunday, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1. After a hard-fought first set and dropping the second frame, Ivanovic came out on a mission in the final seven games.
She won the last set on the strength of nine winners and Makarova's eight unforced errors. The official Twitter account of Roland Garros captures Ivanovic's triumph:
Ivanovic has not advanced this far at the French Open since she won the tournament in 2008.
Svitolina Stops Cornet

No. 29 Alize Cornet made No. 19 Elina Svitolina work for it in the second set, but ultimately the latter prevailed with a 6-2, 7-6 (11-9) victory. The win helped Svitolina advance to the quarterfinals.
You can see the culmination of the epic second-set tiebreaker in the tweet below.
Despite serving up three aces and hitting more winners than her opponent, Cornet was also undone by her unforced errors. In total, she had 42 to 24 for Svitolina. Next up for Svitolina is a battle with Ivanovic.
This is newfound territory for Svitolina, as she had never advanced past the second round before this year. Ivanovic would seemingly have the edge considering she's a former French Open champion and has more experience overall.
Their match should be fun to watch in the next round.
