Why I Was Wrong About Brett Favre Coming Back

Tanner ThomsSep 3, 2009

Months ago, I told fellow Vikings writer, M Holly, that there was absolutely no chance that Brett Favre would return to the NFL.

This was back when Favre going to Minnesota had not even come about yet.

I, stupidly, made a bet with M Holly saying that Favre would not return, of course, M said that Favre would once again come out of retirement.

I figured that after Favre's interview saying there was absolutely no way he would come out of retirement, he was serious.

As always, you can never trust anything that Brett Favre says.

I don't enjoy being wrong. Usually when it comes to things like this, I am fairly spot on.

This is the truth.

When it comes to Favre returning to my favorite team in the NFL, I'm okay with. In a sense, I'm pleased that I was wrong about it.

Everybody has their own opinion of Brett.

Some say that he makes the Vikings a worse team because of the lack of chemistry they now have on offense.

On the other hand, you hear people saying that Favre is a great quarterback who will make the Vikings a much better team with how good of a leader he is.

Unless you're very stupid, you know which team I'm on.

Brett showed what kind of player he will be when the Vikings played the Texans on Monday Night Football.

Favre went 13-18 for nearly 150 yards, and one touchdown. He played a little over one half of the game.

I fully expect for Brett to have these kind of numbers all season long. Minnesota has great targets and he will be able to fit the ball into their hands most of the time.

His arm is not as strong as it once was, but he still can throw as hard as most quarterbacks in the league today.

In my opinion, Brett brings Minnesota from a 10 win team to a 12 win team.

With how easy our schedule is, the Vikings will win the NFC North and will be a top team in the NFC all together.

Like I said before, I'm glad I was wrong about Brett coming out of retirement.

When all is said and done, Brett will bring home the Lombardi trophy. Anything less is simply a failed season.
