Dareus Addresses Contract Situation

Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com provided comments from Dareus, who discussed his contract situation:
"We’ll wait and see what the Bills do. It weighs on me heavily. Heavily. I’ve got to go out there and really perform and do what I have to do, which I always do—really have fun with it. Whatever the outcome is, is the outcome. However they want to play it is how they play it. I’m excited. I’m excited for the upcoming year.
"
On May 22, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported the Bills are hoping to sign Dareus to a long-term extension before training camp starts:
Dareus is entering the final season of his rookie contract, which will pay him $8.06 million, per Spotrac. The former first-round pick will miss Buffalo's first game of the 2015 season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, per a statement by the NFL (via Conor Orr of NFL.com).
Dareus has been one of the league's most dominant defensive tackles over the last two seasons, recording 17.5 sacks during that span. He has also been durable, appearing in 63 out of 64 games since being drafted in 2011, and he was named a first-team All-Pro in 2014.
