Marcus LoVett Jr. to St. John's: Red Storm Land 4-Star PG Prospect
St. John's picked up another commitment for its 2015 class early Thursday as point guard Marcus LoVett Jr. signed on with the Red Storm. ย
Raphielle Johnson of College Basketball Talk noted the addition:
"Late Wednesday night four-star point guard Marcus LoVett Jr., one of the most entertaining players in the class, announced via his Twitter account that he's committed to the Big East program. LoVett posted a photo of his signed National Letter of Intent, which will become official once the school announces that it has received it.

Here's a look at the national letter of intent, perย LoVett:
The talented point guard out of Chicago ranks as the No. 88 prospect in the class, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. He's also one of the top 15 recruits at the position and among the most sought-after players in Illinois.
So it's clear LoVett is a high-upside signing for the Red Storm. He's showcased a lot of potential as an electric ball-handler with the ability to score in multiple ways. It's just going to take some time for him to become more consistent.
The good news for St. John's is that it already has Rysheed Jordan on the roster. He should remain the main point guard next season, allowing LoVett to take on a more limited role as he gets his feet wet at the next level.
A little coaching and some experience against Big East competition should go a long way. By the time Jordan heads for the pro ranks, whether that's next year or in two years, LoVett should be ready to fill the void for St. John's.
New head coach Chris Mullin immediately went to work revitalizing the roster with an infusion of promising talent this offseason. LoVett is the latest example of that.
