James Hinchcliffe Injury: Updates on IndyCar Driver's Status After Crash

A wreck during practice for the Indianapolis 500 resulted in IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe being taken to the hospital after he crashed into the wall of Turn 3. He has since been released but not cleared to return to racing.

Hinchcliffe Released from Hospital

The Associated Press reported that Hinchcliffe has been released from the hospital but has not yet been cleared to return to racing.

The 28-year-old was involved in a collision on May 18, during which his car spun briefly onto its right side before coming to rest back on its wheels, according to the Associated Press:

The Canadian driver's wreck was the fourth that occurred during practice for Sunday's Indianapolis 500. Prior to Hinchcliffe's crash Monday, Helio Castroneves, Josef Newgarden and Ed Carpenter were each involved in accidents, which led to IndyCar officials implementing changes to reduce speeds, according to the AP.
