Theo Walcott, who earns £100,000 per week, has yet to sign a new contract with Arsenal, despite the winger's current deal having just over a year left to run.

The latest reports suggest the Gunners star is looking for clarification on his role in the team as part of negotiations while Arsenal is reportedly "confident" an agreement will be reached.

Arsenal Reportedly Confident in Long-Term Deal

Tuesday, June 16

In addition to being "confident" Walcott will agree to a long-term contract, "Arsenal will step up their efforts to agree a new long-term contract with [Walcott] now the forward is back home from international duty," according to Matt Law of the Telegraph.

"Manager Arsene Wenger had feared a long and drawn-out process, but there is now a willingness on both sides to find an agreement and talks should take place in the coming days," Law added.

Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror reported on June 2 that "Walcott will discuss where he is to be used and how often as part of his contract talks with Arsenal." Lewis continued:

"

Advisors for Walcott, who has just a year left on his £90,000-a-week deal, will finally sit down with the Gunners this week to talk about a new long-term agreement.

As well as seeking more game time, however, the 26-year-old England forward is keen to find a balance between playing out wide and up front with recent displays strengthening his case.

He is set to make it clear in this week’s discussions that he is NOT pushing to play as the main striker in every game.

"

"I am sure things will get resolved. I have got England coming up and then we can think about that process, but it will take time, I am sure," said Walcott, per Simon Rice of the Independent on June 1.

Previously, the 26-year-old had been linked with a potential move to Liverpool after appearing to become a peripheral figure at the Emirates earlier in the season, per Charles Perrin of the Daily Express.

However, Walcott scored a hat-trick against West Brom to help Arsenal finish third in the Premier League before hitting the opener in the 4-0 FA Cup final win over Aston Villa on May 30.

Walcott is a firm fan favourite, and he can be mightily effective down the right flank as he proved at the end of the season.
