Manchester City Transfer News: Latest Kevin De Bruyne and Gareth Bale Rumours

Rory MarsdenMay 18, 2015

Manchester City have been warned off any pursuit of Wolfsburg star Kevin de Bruyne by the Bundesliga club's CEO.

De Bruyne has been immense for Wolfsburg this season en route to securing Champions League qualification, and City have been linked with an attempt to sign the Belgian, per Simon Jones in the Daily Mail.

The 23-year-old has been valued at around £40 million, but Wolfsburg CEO Klaus Allofs is convinced he will continue at the German outfit past the summer, per German TV show Doppelpass (h/t Matt Woosnam on MailOnline):

"

At the moment, I'd call him unsellable. I am 100 per cent convinced he will play for us next year. However, in football things can develop so rapidly, that you can't say this now.

"

De Bruyne has been mightily impressive this term for a Wolfsburg side who look set to finish second in the Bundesliga behind champions Bayern Munich.

He has netted 10 times in the league and provided a staggering 20 assists, per WhoScored.comAs Belgian football writer Kristof Terreur reports, Wolfsburg are set to do their utmost to keep hold of their star man:

However, their resolve is sure to be tested as City have the financial clout to offer very tempting terms to secure De Bruyne services.

He would be a wonderful signing for the Sky Blues, and as noted by Bleacher Report's Rob Pollard, De Bruyne could be brought in after a likely summer clear-out at the Etihad:

De Bruyne's attacking talents and versatility would bring a spark back to the City front line that has been often missing this season, with too great an onus placed on Sergio Aguero's contribution.

While Wolfsburg are clearly set to put up a fight, they will struggle to hold onto De Bruyne if City are serious about signing him.

City Join Bale Hunt

Gareth Bale, pictured, has struggled for Real Madrid in the 2014-15 season

Rumours have abounded of late concerning Real Madrid's Gareth Bale and a potential move for the Welshman back to the Premier League, per Sky Sports' Gary Neville.

Manchester United have been the club predominantly linked with the former Tottenham man, but City are now reportedly set to join the hunt, with the club's owners green-lighting an £80 million pursuit of the winger, per Mike McGrath in the Sun.

Recent reports have suggested that Bale does indeed want out of Madrid this summer having received widespread criticism after a difficult season, per the Sunday Times' Duncan Castles:

If that is indeed the case, it may spark a bidding war between the two Manchester clubs, with Real unlikely to let Bale go for less than the world-record £85 million transfer fee they paid for him in 2013.

City certainly have the financial muscle to go up against United, but the Red Devils may hold the edge as they may be able to use Los Blancos goalkeeping target David de Gea as a bargaining chip.

Bale has obvious pedigree and terrific Premier League experience. He would be a high-quality addition to either City or United, both of whom need to improve if they are to challenge Chelsea for the title next season.

A successful purchase of Bale by City, though, would see them required to sell off various players in order to balance the books for Financial Fair Play, with Yaya Toure a likely casualty.
