Preakness 2015 Post Positions: Race-Day Outlook for Entire Lineup
We're just hours away from the 140th running of the Preakness Stakes, and Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah is still the favorite to win. At 10-13 odds, American Pharoah is expected to overcome the unlucky first post position he drew earlier in the week.
Here's a look at the odds and every post position for the entire eight-horse field, per Odds Shark:
| Post | Horse | Trainer | Jockey | Odds |
| 1 | American Pharoah | Bob Baffert | Victor Espinoza | 10-13 |
| 2 | Dortmund | Bob Baffert | Martin Garcia | 9-2 |
| 3 | Mr. Z | D. Wayne Lukas | Corey Nakatani | 25-1 |
| 4 | Danzig Moon | Mark Casse | Julien Leparoux | 20-1 |
| 5 | Tale of Verve | Dallas Stewart | Joel Rosario | 50-1 |
| 6 | Bodhisattva | Jose Corrales | Trevor McCarthy | 33-1 |
| 7 | Divining Rod | Arnaud Delacour | Javier Castellano | 22-1 |
| 8 | Firing Line | Simon Callaghan | Gary Stevens | 17-4 |
The Big Three

Firing Line finished second behind American Pharoah at the Derby, while Dortmund was third. Don't be surprised to see the exact same win, place and show results at the Preakness. These three horses are clearly the class of this small field.
Dortmund and Firing Line have engaged in their own personal rivalry dating back to December 2014. The two horses have met three times, with Dortmund winning the first two and Firing Line coming in ahead of his rival at Churchill Downs.
While Dortmund and Firing Line work out their differences, American Pharoah will keep hope alive for a little thing called the Triple Crown.
The Long Shots

Danzig Moon, Divining Rod and Mr. Z are clearly outside of the elite group, but all three have had some success in either Grade 1 races or in fields with other horses that have run in the Kentucky Derby.
If you're looking for the horse with the best chance to sneak into the top three, it would probably be Danzig Moon. He was fifth at the Derby and second at the G-1 Bluegrass Stakes. It would be only a mild shock if he and jockey Julien Leparoux found a way to finish third.
Horses with No Chance

In case you just want to throw money away, you could bet on Tale of Verve and Bodhisattva. Their odds are simply too long to even entertain for the smallest wager. If you're just itching to bet on one of them, take Bodhisattva, as his name is cooler. Otherwise, donate that money to your favorite charity—it'll go to better use.
