Are These the 2015 MLB All-Star Game Official Hats?
May 15, 2015
A potential advertisement for the official hats of the 2015 MLB All-Star Game surfaced on the Internet Thursday night.
Update from Friday, May 15
These pillbox hats will not be worn during the 2015 MLB All-Star Game, according to ESPN's Darren Rovell and Uni Watch's Paul Lukas:
These hats were not created by Major League Baseball or New Era. Rather, designer Jesse Alkire (who has previously created NFL jersey mockups) came up with the concept.
--End of Update--
Phil Hecken of Uni Watch (h/t @WallendaNik) passed along the image, which features double-striped, white-based caps that felt super old school.
Cork Gaines of Business Insider believes the design is meant to resemble "Mr. Redlegs," one of the Cincinnati Reds' mascots:
Nothing wrong with a little retro flavor.
We should know whether or not these are legitimate soon enough, since the All-Star Game is set for July 14.
But in the meantime, what do you think of these?
