Shane Carwin Is Going to Loose To Brock Lesnar

Eric StevenmanSep 1, 2009

Don't make it sound like Shane Carwin is somebody who is a serious contender for this belt. Yea he beat Gonzoga, but if you watch the fight not just look at the outcome, you will clearly see Shane Carwin getting his a** kicked by Gonzaga, but somehow Carwin managed to get up and hit him with a jab, which subsequently knocked out Gonzaga.

It was a poor performance by Carwin, he just got lucky at the end, which is very similar to Frank Mir when he fought Lesnar the first time. Yes Mir won the fight, however anyone who watches it can tell Brock kicks his a** for nearly three minutes untill he handed the fight over to Frank Mir by standing up in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blackbelt's guard. So yes Carwin beat Gonzaga, but it was a lucky win and had he not scrambled back to his feet the fight would have ended in the next 20 seconds and Carwin would have lost. Even in Brock Lesnar's only loss he looked better than Shane Carwin did in his biggest win.

Another aspect that needs to be considered is the fact that Shane Carwin has fought next to NOBODY. I know he is 11-0 but it doesn't matter what your record is if you beat undercard crap fighters, his only fight against a serious top heavyweight was agaisnt Gabriele Gonzaga, who nearly finished him in the first round. If you look at Brock's record, granted its 4-1, he has beat, and just beat but flat out ran over, three top ufc heavyweights, his only loss was against Frank Mir, and still even in that loss Lesnar looked very good, and proved a lot to MMA fans that night, not to mention we saw what happens when Brock doesn't stand up in Frank's guard at UFC 100, where he avenged his only loss.

Both Brock and Carwin have a wrestling background but Carwin was a Division II Champion and Brock was Divsion I where he went 105-6, and won the national title in 2000. The bottom line is if Randy Couture, Heath Hearing, and Frank Mir cannot perform well agaisnt Brock Lesnar, than Shane Carwin doesn't stand a snow balls chance in hell. Lets face it, Shane Carwin is a bad version of Brock Lesnar.
