Liverpool Transfer News: Carlos Tevez and Jeremy Menez Enquiries Reported
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly casting an eye over Serie A's best goalscorers. Links to Juventus' Carlos Tevez and AC Milan's Jeremy Menez arrived shortly after the Reds' failure to qualify for next season's Champions League was all but confirmed.
This season, Rodgers has watched his side rack up 50 goals with two Premier League matches remaining, compared to the 101 scored at the conclusion of the 2013-14 campaign, per WhoScored.com. A top-quality marksman is still needed nearly a year after Luis Suarez's departure, meaning the club must spend big money.

Jamie McLaughlin of Metro suggests the club have "made enquires" for Tevez, who has netted 27 goals across Serie A and the Champions League this season, recorded by WhoScored.
The former Manchester United, Manchester City and West Ham United man is a proven star in English football, having tallied a combined total of 114 goals and 57 assists in 276 appearances for all three, noted by Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Tevez's ceaseless work rate and finishing quality has made him a popular player for every club he's represented. He's bullish and possesses the strength to bat defenders away with little hassle. His low centre of gravity ensures he is also difficult to knock off the ball. Rodgers may be most interested in his ability to score all types of goals. You can see the striker's quality below:
Menez is more of a wide player, but his versatility would fit in with the type of forward Rodgers loves to deploy at Anfield. Italian publication Tuttosport (h/t Tom Olver for Metro) indicates the "Reds have stepped up their interest, and have approached Milan over a potential move."
It is suggested Monaco are also keeping tabs, which could mean Radamel Falcao—who is currently on loan at Manchester United—will be sold. This may also interest Liverpool, who have been linked to the Colombian in recent times, per Ben Jefferson of the Express.

Menez has scored 16 goals in 33 appearances this season, per WhoScored. He wasn't the most prolific forward at Paris Saint-Germain, where his best domestic total for one season was seven.
The Frenchman also can't be considered an out-and-out striker. Rodgers recently suggested he wasn't interested in new United signing Memphis Depay for this reason, reported by James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo:
B/R UK's Sam Tighe recently looked at a variation of potential signings to improve the club:
Rodgers certainly needs to land a huge name during the summer, just to show everyone both he and Liverpool have the pulling power to do so. Tevez's arrival seems unlikely, particularly as Juventus are still on course to win the Champions League, a tournament Liverpool are likely to miss out on next season.
The Argentinian represents the right stature of player needed to lead the front line. Liverpool set their development back by at least one year when Suarez was sold, but with an ambitious spend during the summer, they can quickly challenge for a top-four place once more.
