Liverpool Transfer News: Son Heung-Min Agent Reveals Interest, Huge Reds Rumours

Liverpool are looking to sign Bayer Leverkusen forward Son Heung-Min in the summer transfer window, according to the player's agent, Thies Bliemeister.

The South Korean attacker has played a key role for his side this season. Fourth-placed Bayer moved 13 points clear of Schalke in fifth with their victory over Bayern Munich on Saturday, meaning Champions League football is now almost guaranteed for next season.

Son has scored 11 times in the Bundesliga this term, per WhoScored.com, and Bliemeister revealed Liverpool's interest in the player in Bild (via Goal's Ewan Roberts): "I know Liverpool have scouted him several times this season and would like to have him in their team."

Roberts quotes the 22-year-old's value as at least £15 million, while he supposedly has an annual release clause that will reactivate this summer.

Son can play on either flank and would work well in Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers' counter-attacking system.

Liverpool need to add firepower in attack. They have scored far fewer goals following the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona last summer, per Sky Sports News HQ:

The Reds should be an attractive prospect for Son, given the club's historic status. However, the Merseyside outfit could make themselves more attractive by ensuring Champions League football next season.

Following fourth-placed Manchester United's three losses on the bounce, that is no longer such a long shot, as Liverpool now sit just four points back from the Red Devils with three games remaining.

Liverpool will need to make a handful of strong signings if they are to return to title-challenging form, and the addition of Son in attack would be a good starting point.

Benteke Targeted, Montoya Deal Close

Aston Villa's Christian Benteke would be a terrific signing for Liverpool, who currently lack true quality in the striking department following Suarez's departure.

Daniel Sturridge has been plagued by injuries this season, and summer signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have been abject failures, with the Italian set to leave Anfield this summer, per Bleacher Report's Matteo Bonetti:

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a potential summer swoop for the the £30 million-rated Benteke. The Belgian striker's Villa team-mate Leandro Bacuna admitted that the Birmingham outfit may struggle to hold onto him this summer, per David Anderson in the Mirror:

I live about one minute from him and go around his place. We talk about his future a little bit, but we don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s going to be hard to hang onto him. I don’t know if he is the best striker in the Premier League, but he is definitely one of the best.

Since his 2012 move from Genk to Villa, Benteke has proved he has the ability to score goals consistently in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old is exactly the kind of player Liverpool need, a proven goalscorer, and they should look to bring him in over the summer.

It seems the Reds may be close to confirming the signing of Barcelona right-back Martin Montoya, with Fichajes.net reporting that the Spaniard has agreed personal terms with the Anfield club, relayed by Metro's George Bellshaw.

Liverpool need a replacement for the inconsistent—and likely departing—Glen Johnson, and the 24-year-old Montoya is a great talent.

He has struggled to break into the Barca first team, starting just six league games this season, per WhoScored, but he could be a fine addition to the Liverpool side, as he will improve further the more game time he is given.
