Undrafted Free Agents 2015: Rumors and Predictions for NFL-Ready Players
The 2015 NFL draft may be a thing of the past, but the fun is just getting started for NFL teams still on the hunt for potential roster upgrades and sleepers.
Undrafted free agency is a chaos-riddled time of year when every player not selected in the draft is free to sign with a team of their choosing.
Teams use this period to round out summer and preseason rosters, provide competition and perhaps even find players who can make final rosters. Look at what the Cincinnati Bengals got out of a player like Vontaze Burfict a few years ago. In 2013, he ranked as the No. 4 4-3 outside linebacker in the league at Pro Football Focus.
There is similar value on this year's market, so let's take a moment to catch up with some of the hottest names in a whirlwind of information.
Highlighting NFL-Ready Undrafted Free Agents
Trey Williams, RB, Texas A&M

There's a lot to like with Texas A&M running back Trey Williams, who fell out of the draft more due to the devalued nature of the position than anything.
Coming in at 5'7" and 195 pounds, Williams is a big-play threat who can fill multiple roles on an NFL roster so long as a coaching staff uses him in a proper manner.
According to Turron Davenport of the Baltimore Times, the Houston Texans might be the team to give Williams his chance:
Williams is the definition of explosive, with the linked NFL.com report writing "Features a devastating jump-cut that torments defenders in space. One of the best 'make-you-miss' types in this draft. Improvisation-oriented athlete in space."
With the Aggies, Williams was quite productive in a limited role:
| 2014 | 81 | 560 | 6.9 | 7 |
| 2013 | 58 | 407 | 7.0 | 6 |
| 2012 | 65 | 376 | 5.8 | 5 |
There's a roster spot in Houston for Williams so long as he can stay healthy and offer something names such as Chris Polk and Jonathan Grimes cannot. His ability to play receiver out of the slot might just push him over the edge.
Prediction: Williams makes the roster in Houston.
Trey DePriest, LB, Alabama

The Baltimore Ravens know a thing or two about linebackers, so it's always wise to keep a close eye on who they pick up at any spot, including free agency.
It sounds like Alabama product Trey DePriest will reunite with C.J. Mosley in Baltimore, with Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun citing a source on the matter: "The Ravens agreed to a free-agent deal with Alabama linebacker Trey DePriest, according to a source."
DePriest is an active linebacker who needs some work in the recognition department, but it's nothing a spot on a strong unit with a great coaching staff can't fix. As NFL.com's Lance Zierlein writes, the Crimson Tide product already has a suitable role at the next level:
"Burly and thick through his middle, DePriest needs plays to unfold in front of him to play at his best. With offenses becoming matchup-oriented, DePriest's value to an NFL team could be diminished. Best-suited as a two-down ILB in a 3-4 defense."
Inside linebacker was a decent need in Baltimore with Daryl Smith aging, so it won't be a shock to see DePriest at least land a gig on the practice squad while the coaching staff grooms his talents.
Prediction: DePriest sticks on Baltimore's practice squad.
Wes Saxton, TE, South Alabama

Sometimes it's a head-scratching affair looking at some of the talent that slips through the cracks.
Wes Saxton is one of those players.
While Saxton suited up for a small school like South Alabama, his high upside was worth a draft pick. NFL.com listed him as a fifth-round pick at best, which makes sense considering he's 6'3" and 248 pounds with sure hands and an ability to create mismatches.
According to FoxSports.com's Ross Jones, the New York Jets were the first to pounce:
The knock with Saxton is his inability to be effective as an in-line blocker in the running game.
Still, some teams are willing to look past this fault when they realize Saxton is a moveable chess piece who can line up anywhere on the field and catch the ball at a reliable clip.
The pro-ready traits won't move Saxton to the main roster in New York just yet, but they will see him secure a deal on the practice squad as the coaching staff works to unleash his tremendous upside.
Prediction: Saxton sticks on New York's practice squad.
