Zac Stacy to Jets: Latest Trade Details, Comments and Reaction
After the St. Louis Rams drafted Todd Gurley with the No. 10 overall pick in the NFL draft, running back Zac Stacy saw the writing on the wall and requested a trade. The Rams granted him that wish, dealing him to the New York Jets on Saturday.

The Jets later confirmed the deal via their Twitter account.
Immediately after the Rams made the Gurley pick, Stacy tweeted, "Yikes"—though he later removed the post. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Stacy then asked the Rams to trade him, per Kevin Patra of NFL.com. With Tre Mason being drafted last year and Gurley this year, Stacy surely would have been relegated to third-string duty if he had remained with the Rams.
Stacy looked like he was going to be St. Louis' primary back for years to come during his 2013 rookie season, when he rushed for 973 yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games. However, last year, he only gained 293 yards and a score as the Rams turned to a backfield-by-committee approach.
And that's how the Jets were able to get him for basically nothing, per Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports:
Stacy will likely be in a similar situation in New York as he was in St. Louis, however. The Jets already have Chris Ivory and Stevan Ridley on the roster—both physical downhill runners like Stacy—as well as Bilal Powell. Stacy may have gotten his wish to leave St. Louis, but it's questionable how much more favorable he'll find things in a crowded Jets backfield.
