NFL Draft Rumors: Latest Buzz and Speculation Before Day 3 of 2015 Draft
One day remains in the 2015 NFL draft. Saturday's action will begin with Round 4 and conclude several hours later with Round 7. Usually, the final day of the process is more calm than the first two, but this year might be an exception.
There are still some intriguing questions to answer. The most notable surround La'el Collins and Jay Ajayi, who are still on the board despite solid rankings. They represent a couple of the stories worth monitoring throughout the afternoon.
Beyond that, this is a class that's been heralded more for its depth than its top-end talent. So there could be some hidden gems selected in the remaining rounds as well. Let's check out the results so far before diving into some talk about Day 3 from Chicago.

Buzz Ahead of Day 3
La'el Collins
Collins' stock quickly became a major mystery after Ross Dellenger and Ben Wallace of The Advocate reported he was set to meet with police about the death of a pregnant woman last week. Police told the outlet he's not a suspect, but that apparently hasn't helped his cause with NFL teams.
The LSU product, who was once a fringe top-10 prospect, is still available. Adam Schefter of ESPN previously noted that his representatives planned to have him enter the draft again next year if he wasn't selected by the end of Day 2:
Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports added that Collins took a polygraph test related to the situation and passed. He's going to talk with police Monday:
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports believes a team will ultimately take a chance on the offensive lineman in the final round:
All told, it still seems like a highly unsettled situation. The talent is there, and if the off-field question marks are cleared, he'd be a huge steal late in the draft if he signs. But whether any team is going to take the chance given the uncertainty is unknown.
Jay Ajayi
The Boise State standout tallied over 4,000 total yards and 51 touchdowns over the past two seasons. He's a powerful back capable of playing all three downs. If a team wants to use him in a rotation, he would be valuable in short-yardage situations, including at the goal line.
He's not the most explosive runner, but his talent suggests he should be off the board by now. Chadd Cripe of the Idaho Statesman reports lingering concerns throughout the league about his knee have caused the drop to Day 3:
"Now Ajayi unexpectedly will awake Saturday morning in Plano, Texas, still uncertain of his football future.
An NFL source confirmed to the Idaho Statesman that concerns about Ajayi’s knee are causing his slide. He once was considered a top-five tailback in this class.
"
The worry stems from a 2011 knee injury that required surgery. While he's handled heavy workloads each of the last two years, teams clearly aren't convinced about his long-term value. Ajayi posted his reaction on social media Friday night:
Teams may not want to invest an early pick on him due to the knee. Yet he could still make an impact in 2015 if he lands in the right situation. If nothing else, the fall should certainly provide some added motivation heading into his rookie campaign.
Zac Stacy

The St. Louis Rams used the 10th overall pick to select running back Todd Gurley. They did so despite having Tre Mason, Benny Cunningham and Stacy on the roster as well as needs in other areas. In other words, they are extremely high on the Georgia star.
Stacy could very well be the odd man out as a result. Moving to another team where he could be more involved is the ideal endgame. Nick Mensio of Rotoworld provided an update based on comments the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport made on NFL Draft Kickoff:
The running back was solid as a rookie, rushing for 973 yards and seven touchdowns. The Rams moved in another direction last season, however, dropping his workload to just 76 carries. Adding Gurley certainly doesn't improve the outlook.
Whether the Rams will be able to snag another pick in the draft for him is now the question. He's a powerful runner capable of being the strength side of a lightning-and-thunder committee. It's a situation to watch as the draft winds down.
