It turns out there are a few things happening on Saturday. And wouldn't you know it, there's NHL postseason action to catch too. So amid everything else going down, let's take a look at the NHL schedule and preview the one game on tap.

NEW YORK, NY - APRIL 30: Alex Ovechkin #8 of the Washington Capitals smiles after his team defeated the New York Rangers 2-1 in Game One of the Eastern Conference Semifinals during the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Madison Square Garden on April 30, 2

It ain't over 'til it's over.

It's one of the oldest cliches in sports, but never was it more true than at the end of Game 1 between the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers, when Alex Ovechkin's effort and Joel Ward's goal with 1.3 seconds remaining on the clock gave the Caps a shock 2-1 win and 1-0 lead in this series.

It's very rare you get a buzzer-beater in hockey. The Rangers now have to find a way to recover from the shocking defeat.

"Right now, it’s tough, but then you regroup; you move on," Henrik Lundqvist told Pat Pickens of The New York Times. "It’s the first of four; it’s their win. The way we battled back in this game, obviously we were looking for a different result. We will regroup and come back."

Frankly, the Capitals may have won in dramatic circumstances, but they deserved to take Game 1. They were better for much of the game, playing a more physical, energized brand of hockey than the Rangers.

The man who scored the game-winning goal, Ward, had the opportunity to give the Caps a 2-0 lead earlier in the game but hit the post with the net wide open in front of him, so he had a bit of redemption.

But the real story involves the two best players on the ice, superstar Ovechkin and goalie Braden Holtby.

The former scored the game's first goal on an impossible, blistering wrist shot that left Lundqvist helpless to do anything but shrug. He flew around the ice all night long, creating plays and remaining a thorn in New York's side before setting up the game's decisive goal.

And don't discount the pass he made to set up that goal. Bruce Arthur of the Toronto Star isn't:

The latter was brilliant, stopping 31 of 32 shots in the win. It looked as though he was going to pitch a shutout, but a deflected shot beat him with a little over four minutes remaining in the third period. To make a deep run in the postseason, a team needs a goalie who can steal a few games, and Holtby certainly looked like that guy in Game 1.

Of course, Lundqvist can be that guy for the Rangers too. And if New York looked a little rusty in Game 1, well, Ward's goal almost assuredly woke them up. The Rangers are as deep and balanced as any team remaining in the playoffs, and it's doubtful they'll roll over and die after one tough break.

They also aren't going to underestimate Washington again. The Capitals aren't the all-flash, no-substance team of the past. They work hard, they're physical and they've shown they'll battle until the final whistle.

The Rangers now need to do the same. The last thing the Rangers can afford is to head to Washington trailing 2-0 in this series.
