Best Booking Options for Seth Rollins in Triple Threat Match at WWE Payback 2015

Donald WoodMay 1, 2015

The expectations following Extreme Rules are low, but the main event of WWE's 2015 edition of Payback featuring Seth Rollins defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship will carry the pay-per-view.

Rollins hasn't been booked well since he won the championship, but the hope is the additions of Randy Orton and Roman Reigns to the Triple Threat match will result in a marquee main event the PPV can build around.

Here are the best booking options for Rollins and the Triple Threat match at WWE Payback 2015.

Rollins Steals the Win from Roman Reigns

Despite being the top heel in the company and the world champion, Rollins has been booked terribly since winning the title. He may have looked strong cashing in and outsmarting Reigns and Brock Lesnar, but he has lost clean on several occasions since.

The best possible outcome for Rollins would be allowing Reigns to shine by hitting Orton with a spear in the Triple Threat match and simply tossing him out of the ring to collect the cheap victory.

Winning via a stolen pinfall won't make Rollins look strong, but he is playing the weasel heel. Instead of losing the matches he wrestles on Raw or SmackDown, WWE must stop booking him to take clean pinfalls.

A champion shouldn't be getting pinned, period.

Rollins Steals the Win from Randy Orton

Another possibility that mirrors the previous scenario would be Rollins stealing the win from Orton after hitting Reigns with the RKO. Not only would it make Orton look strong and give Rollins the win, but it would also void any complaint that Reigns is the next John Cena.

Cena would not be taking the clean loss in a Triple Threat match.

The key will be Rollins walking out of Payback with the WWE Championship, but if WWE favors Orton over Reigns right now, then fans could see the champion handing the clean loss to the Royal Rumble winner.

While this is a distinct possibility, Reigns would look too weak for this to be viable.

The Authority Hands Rollins a Successful Title Defense

Of all the possibilities at Payback, the most likely is The Authority getting involved in the match and helping Rollins retain the championship. Despite Kane teasing tension with the champion, he understands what is best for business.

There is no doubt J&J Security will be on hand to help the champion, but Kane has continued to tease issues with Rollins, and that could come to a head at the PPV. The WWE Universe shouldn't be shocked to see Kane tease a match against Rollins at Money in the Bank.

It may sound like terrible booking right now, but moving Orton and Reigns into the Money in the Bank ladder match and allowing Kane to fight Rollins would give the next PPV two marquee matches.

Let's just hope Payback doesn't have an ending that is too convoluted.
