SB Nation provided reaction from Rams running back Zac Stacy, who didn't seem thrilled with the selection, but has since removed his Tweet:

Sports Illustrated noted that the decision to take a running back so early broke a recent trend at the position:

Running back Steven Jackson was pleased for the position as a whole, while former Georgia player Alec Ogletree was thrilled to bring another Bulldog to St. Louis:

From a talent standpoint, Gurley is worth the risk of taking a running back so early. He racked up 7.4 yards per carry last season for the Bulldogs and also found the end zone as a speedy kick returner. Kev Connaghan of Pro Football Focus pointed out that Gurley's speed is not the only thing that makes him an effective runner:

Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports and Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports believed this was an impact pick:

Mike Sando of ESPN.com passed along a quote from Jon Gruden that should have Rams fans excited for the future:

The only concern with Gurley is the fact that he tore his ACL last season at Georgia. David Haugh of the Chicago Tribune and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network addressed those worries:

The next question is how Gurley will fit into the Rams offense. He certainly has the skill set to contribute right away, which is trouble for the other St. Louis running backs, as Michael Fabiano of NFL.com pointed out:

Stacy is right to worry about his job security in the running back rotation.

Gurley is a physical force who boasts the speed to explode through holes and the physicality to fight through arm tackles. If he is fully healthy, he will put up impressive numbers for the Rams right away.
