NFL Draft Order 2015: Full Selection List for Rounds 2-7 and Round 1 Results
Well, that was fun. What do you say about another round or two...or six?
The first round of the 2015 NFL draft may be over, but the entire draft weekend is just getting started. Many of the first-round favorites like Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston and West Virginia wide receiver Kevin White have been off the board for a while. However, there are a few names that slipped past the first round and are available on Day 2.
In the table graphic below, you can catch up on all the first-round selections plus check out the draft order for each of the remaining rounds.
Second Round Players to Watch
Randy Gregory, DE, Nebraska
The fall of Nebraska defensive end Randy Gregory was easily one of the biggest storylines from night one. The edge-rusher is, by many accounts, a first-round talent. Though a failed drug test at the NFL combine didn't exactly help his draft stock, it shouldn't have hurt it this much, either.
But that doesn't appear to be the only strike against Gregory, as Ian Rapoport and Albert Breer of NFL.com reported on Wednesday:
"At least three general managers view him as a top-five talent. But according to more than a dozen coaches, scouts, personnel chiefs and GMs, there is concern about Gregory's ability to handle the mental rigors of professional football. And just how far he drops in this week's draft will likely hinge on the individual psychological profiles (and the results of related testing) put together by each team, according to multiple veteran evaluators. He has been taken off a several teams' draft boards, according to multiple sources.
"
That's a huge accusation to be coming out the day before the draft. Either way, Gregory is still available and could be picked up in the second round. If he isn't, we would be witnessing a major free fall.
Landon Collins, DB, Alabama
While a handful of cornerbacks were taken in the first round, only one safety—Arizona State's Damarious Randall—was drafted. There were probably many who thought the first safety off the board would be Collins, who was actually in attendance Thursday.
Sure enough, Collins is one of the best players available for Day 2 according to B/R's draft guru, Matt Miller:
Collins is a physical safety, but his pass defense has been questioned during the draft build up. Still, it's hard to imagine him dropping into the late second round, let alone any further.
Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Missouri/Oklahoma
We knew DGB would be a wild card heading into the draft. The former blue-chip recruit led Missouri with 59 catches for 883 yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2013. However, multiple drug-related issues and a domestic violence allegation forced Green-Beckham and Missouri to part ways. Green-Beckham spent the past season at Oklahoma, but he did not play.
So, here you have an athletic rarity that's 6'5" and 237 pounds who could very well be the next Calvin Johnson.
"They don't make receivers in the NFL that look like that other than Calvin Johnson," Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball told Lars Anderson of Bleacher Report. "I've never seen or met Dorial before, but just by looking at him you can tell that this kid is going to be a matchup nightmare. Wow. He's about to get paid. Just...wow."
However, you also have a guy with numerous red flags who hasn't played a down of real football in over a year.
Green-Beckham is a first-round talent, to be sure, but he comes with a lot question marks. Someone will take a chance on him—he's simply too gifted—but it's a matter of when.
La'el Collins, OL, LSU
At this point, it's possible Collins isn't drafted period. At least that's what Miller is hearing exiting Day 1 of the draft:
The reason why is complicated at best. Earlier this week, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Collins was a person of interest in a fatal shooting of a pregnant woman last week. The woman, 29-year-old Brittany Mills, is believed to be a former girlfriend of Collins'. The important note here is that police do not consider Collins to be a suspect in the case.
Collins asked to be removed from the draft while police complete the investigation, but the NFL denied that request, according to Schefter.
Collins' draft stock is tanking and it doesn't sound like his odds of being picked up on Day 2—or at all—are good.
