NFL Draft Results 2015: Complete List of Round 1 Grades

Brian MaziqueMay 1, 2015

Many expected a ton of wheeling and dealing on the first day of the 2015 NFL draft, but the trades were kept to a minimum. There were just two draft-day deals completed that impacted the first round.

The much talked-about trade involving the Tennessee Titans' No. 2 pick and a plethora of teams never materialized.

The Titans took 2014 Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota with the second pick after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took 2013 Heisman winner Jameis Winston No. 1 overall. It was the first time in NFL history that two former Heisman winners were drafted No. 1 and No. 2 in the same draft.

You really can't criticize either team for its pick. Winston is the more pro-ready prospect, but Mariota has the most upside. While Mariota will need reps with a pro-style offense before he's given a chance to lead Tennessee's attack, his intangibles and physical skills make it seem very likely he turns into a star down the road.

Here's a look at every pick from the first round. This table will be updated throughout the final two days of the draft.

Bryce Petty, QB

Heading into the final days before the draft, there seemed to be a chance Bryce Petty would sneak into the first round, but it didn't happen. Still, the Baylor Bears star was quoting French Montana at the end of the day and looking forward to the second round:

Petty has to overcome the same stigma that Mariota faces. There are questions as to whether Baylor's shotgun-heavy offense has Petty prepared for the NFL. Skip Bayless of ESPN's morning talk show First Take believes Petty isn't getting the respect he deserves:

He may be right. Many of the same leadership skills Mariota possesses are also present in Petty's mental makeup. Petty also has a strong arm, he's tough and mobile.

I wouldn't expect Petty to get past the Chicago Bears at No. 39 on Friday. Chicago has to bring in a younger alternative, as Jay Cutler can't be looked at as the long-term solution with the team.

Dorial Green-Beckham, WR

Were it not for off-the-field issues, Dorial Green-Beckham might have been the first receiver taken in the draft.

As it stands, the 6'5", 237-pound receiver is still waiting to hear his name called. He'll likely have his moment on Friday in either the second or third round, but that depends on how convinced teams are that his issues are behind him.

On talent alone, no other receiver has the size, speed and strength combination that DGB brings to the table. The team that takes the gamble on him will be hoping he makes news on the field and not off of it.

Landon Collins, S

A few months ago, most people would have told you that Landon Collins would be selected within the top 10 picks of the draft. Questions about his coverage skills have stigmatized him as a strong safety, and that generally knocks a defensive back out of first-round consideration.

While those concerns are founded, Collins is still a top-notch run-stopping safety prepared to act as an extra linebacker inside the box.

If he can prove he can cover and play free safety, he'll be one of the biggest steals in the draft.
