WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Complete Results and Analysis for April 30

Erik BeastonApr 29, 2015

Things may not have gone Dean Ambrose's way in the King of the Ring tournament, but Thursday night, he has the opportunity to make up for it when he battles Seth Rollins in the main event of SmackDown.

The former Shield members reignite their rivalry for one night only as part of this week's episode, but that is hardly the only marquee bout that took place Tuesday night in Moline, Illinois, when WWE taped the latest edition of the blue brand.

As revealed Monday night, the WWE Tag Team Championships are on the line when The New Day defends their newly won gold against former titleholders Tyson Kidd and Cesaro.

  • Damien Sandow defeated Curtis Axel.
  • Ryback defeated Luke Harper. Bray Wyatt attacked Ryback after the match, laying him out with Sister Abigail.
  • Kidd and Cesaro defeated The New Day via disqualification when Xavier Woods interfered.
  • Nikki Bella defeated Cameron.

Analysis

This week's episode of SmackDown looks vastly superior to the mess that was Monday's Raw.

With a main event pitting Rollins, who resides in Moline, against former friend-turned-bitter enemy Ambrose, not to mention a showdown between Reigns and Kane, the broadcast is stacked with two legitimate main events. Throw in the tag title match, and you have a quality show, at least on paper.

The only puzzling result is the continued misuse of Harper, who loses a third straight televised match Thursday night with his defeat to Ryback, a man who has beaten him numerous times in recent weeks.

Why WWE does not recognize the talent of Harper and use him as more than just a glorified enhancement talent is a mystery.

While SmackDown is certainly worth missing some weeks, this is not one of them. With quality matchups across the board, and the homecoming of the current heavyweight champion on tap, tune in for what should be a massively fun show.
