Mets and Yankees Engage in Humorous Twitter Spat During Subway Series

Kyle NewportApr 27, 2015

While the players were battling on the field in the Subway Series on Sunday night, the Twitter accounts for the New York Mets and the New York Yankees engaged in a minor "spat" with each other.

Things got started when the Yankees took exception to a tweet by the Mets:

That led to a great response by New York (NL):

At that point there was nothing the Yankees could say. However, they did respond once they closed out a 6-4 victory an hour later:

Even though the Yankees won two of three games in the first Subway Series of the year, the Mets—the owners of the best record in all of baseball—have a three-game lead over their intrastate rival in overall record. It would have been easy to just tweet back a picture of each team's record, but the Mets decided to end this little spat by not responding.
