While the players were battling on the field in the Subway Series on Sunday night, the Twitter accounts for the New York Mets and the New York Yankees engaged in a minor "spat" with each other.
Things got started when the Yankees took exception to a tweet by the Mets:

At that point there was nothing the Yankees could say. However, they did respond once they closed out a 6-4 victory an hour later:
Even though the Yankees won two of three games in the first Subway Series of the year, the Mets—the owners of the best record in all of baseball—have a three-game lead over their intrastate rival in overall record. It would have been easy to just tweet back a picture of each team's record, but the Mets decided to end this little spat by not responding.
