Puig Suffers Strained Hamstring
Wednesday, Aug. 19
The Dodgers announced Puig isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said the outfielder is day-to-day with the strain, and he's hopeful the 24-year-old won't need a disabled list stint, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.
The team announced Puig hurt his hamstring against the A's on Aug. 18.
Puig previously dealt with hamstring problems that knocked him out of the lineup on a couple of different occasions. That's always an issue that tends to linger, and it doesn't come as much surprise when there's a setback along the way.
Relatively minor issues like that have been the injury story for the talented 24-year-old slugger. He's had various minor ailments but nothing that's cost him any extended time since he broke onto the scene in 2013.
The Dodgers have enough depth, both on the major league roster and in the system, to overcome those type of short-term losses. They will hope the latest injury falls into the same category but need to await further details on the extent.
Of course, the sooner Puig returns, the better off they'll be.
