Mumbai vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad, IPL: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info, Preview

Chris BradshawApr 23, 2015

It's getting close to win or bust territory for the Mumbai Indians who play host to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL on Saturday. With just one win from six games Mumbai desperately need a victory to get their campaign going.

Hyderabad have been steady rather than spectacular with two wins from five. A good performance at the Wankhede would put them right back into play-off contention.

Venue: Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Weather: After worries with the weather elsewhere, there shouldn't be any rain in Mumbai on Saturday. According to Accuweather, it will be dry and bright with temperatures reaching 32 degrees C.

Overview

This can't be how Ricky Ponting pictured his IPL coaching debut. Just one win from six games marks a sorry start to Mumbai's campaign.

Adding to the Indians' woes is the injury suffered by Corey Anderson. The big-hitting all-rounder has broken a finger and been ruled out for the remainder of the competition.

Mumbai's problems were all too evident in their loss to Delhi on Thursday. With the honourable exception of Lasith Malinga, the Mumbai attack didn't look like taking wickets or stemming the flow of runs.

The top order has impressed at times with six batsmen passing 50. Three of them have managed it twice. The middle-order batsmen were left with too much to do after the loss of early wickets against the Daredevils, though.

Speaking in a mid-match TV interview with HD Ackerman, Mumbai batting coach Robin Singh explained the theory behind the somewhat unorthodox batting order, saying “we think getting 100 in the last 10 overs is achievable at this ground.” It wasn't.

There's surely a case for shaking things up against Hyderabad. Rohit Sharma and Amabati Rayudu seem wasted at No. 4 and No. 6 respectively. They need to get in earlier before the game is already lost.

Another bad day at the office as DD won the match by 37 runs. It's time to go back to the drawing board & come back strong against SRH.

There is talent in the Mumbai side. Sharma and coach Ricky Ponting need to try something different to get the best out this underperforming squad.

The Sunrisers will be looking to build on their most recent outing, an impressive win over Kolkata Knight Riders.

Consistency, or rather the lack of it, has been the major stumbling block for David Warner's side. The captain has led from the front and been the pick of the Sunrisers' performers. He's received precious little support from the top order, though. Shikhar Dhawan is the only other batsman with a half-century to his name.

With Dale Steyn not his usual potent self, the bowling workload has been spread around. Few would have expected Ravi Bopara to top the wickets list. The England all-rounder is tied at the top with Trent Boult on five wickets apiece.

Both Praveen Kumar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar impressed in their most recent outing. They won't get a better chance to put their side back in the play-off pecking order than against a vulnerable Mumbai side.

Key Players

Mumbai Indians: Mumbai have endured a torrid start to their campaign. One man who cannot be blamed is Lasith Malinga. The Sri Lankan delivered another fast-bowling masterclass in his last outing. He'll need a repeat if he's to contain the free-scoring David Warner.

Rohit Sharma has been the pick of the Mumbai batsmen. Another good knock, ideally opening up, would go a long way to salvaging the Indians' IPL season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: It's not quite been a one man show for Hyderabad so far but David Warner has been the undoubted star of the show. The skipper has been his usually aggressive self. He could be set for more success against a Mumbai attack that has stuttered so far.

Mumbai struggled mightily against the leg-spin of Imran Tahir and Amit Mishra in their last match against Delhi. Hyderabad's own leggie, Karn Sharma, will be hoping to inflict more pain on Saturday.

Squads

Mumbai Indians: Lendl Simmons, Parthiv Patel (w), Unmukt Chand, Rohit Sharma (c), Kieron Pollard, Ambati Rayudu, Hardik Pandya, Harbhajan Singh, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah, Aditya Tare, Marchant de Lange, Pawan Suyal, Shreyas Gopal, Pragyan Ojha, Abhimanyu Mithun, Aiden Blizzard, Akshay Wakhare, Nitish Rana, Siddhesh Lad, Jagadeesha Suchith, Vinay Kumar

Sunrisrers Hyderabad: David Warner (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Naman Ojha (wk), KL Rahul, Ravi Bopara, Eoin Morgan, Akshath Reddy, Karn Sharma, Trent Boult, Praveen Kumar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kane Williamson, Ishant Sharma, Siddharth Kaul, Ricky Bhui, Parvez Rasool, Chama Milind, Moises Henriques, Hanuma Vihari, Prasanth Padmanabhan, Laxmi Ratan Shukla.
