2015 NFL Draft: Full 7-Round Order and Sleeper Prospects to Watch

Rob GoldbergApr 24, 2015

Although the first round gets the most hype, teams can find productive players throughout the seven rounds of the NFL draft.

By now, everyone knows the story of Tom Brady turning himself into a future Hall of Famer as a sixth-round pick, but it's important to note impact players come from late in the draft all the time. Last season, Seantrel Henderson started all 16 games at tackle for the Buffalo Bills after being selected in the seventh round.

This year will likely feature some more diamonds in the rough, although you won't necessarily know it at the time. Still, here is a look at some players projected to be taken on Day 3 of the draft who could surprise people once the year begins.

Henry Anderson, DE, Stanford

A deep class of defensive linemen will push some talented players down draft boards. However, organizations can end up with a lot of value by waiting to the later rounds to grab one of these contributors.

For those waiting for the middle rounds, it's hard to find a better option than Stanford's Henry Anderson. The versatile defensive lineman will line up at either tackle or end at the next level, depending on the system, but will be a force in either spot as he penetrates into the backfield.

Gordon McGuinness of Pro Football Focus (via ESPN.com) noted how well Anderson played during the year:

"

For all the hype surrounding USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams, Anderson was arguably the best defensive lineman in the Pac-12 and in this entire draft class during the 2014 season. He's aggressive, making himself tough to block for opposing offensive linemen, and stood out against the run and as a pass-rusher, registering 57 total hurries in 14 games.

"

He needs to add strength, but at 6'6", 294 pounds, he has a large frame that could allow him to be a force on the defensive line. With his raw pass-rushing skills, he has a lot of upside at the next level.

Kevin White, CB, TCU

Most people following the draft know of Kevin White the receiver. The West Virginia product will likely be a first-round pick and could end up being the first wideout taken in the draft.

However, Kevin White the cornerback also has a good chance at a long NFL career despite not having quite the same physical stature as the wide receiver. At 5'9" without great speed (4.63 40-yard dash), the TCU star has slid down draft boards, and front offices look toward players with more upside.

That said, White has the technique and instincts that lead to success at this position. Pat Kirwan of CBSSports.com noted how well the player did against his namesake during the past season:

At the very least, he could immediately step into a team's lineup as a slot cornerback. In the current NFL, this is an extremely important position for those looking to defend the pass.

This is one example where the results at the scouting combine will not accurately show the true value of a football player.

Stefon Diggs, WR, Maryland

There are certainly concerns about Stefon Diggs after he put together mediocre numbers throughout his career at Maryland. Injury problems and poor quarterback play kept him from having the career many were expecting of him when he was a blue-chip recruit in high school.

However, those who have seen him play are enamored with his ability. This includes current Miami Dolphins defensive tackle A.J. Francis, who had high praise for the receiver while speaking with The MMQB (h/t NFL.com):

When he is on the field, Diggs (6'0", 195 lbs) has a unique ability to make people miss while simply always finding open space on the field. He is tough enough to catch balls in traffic, although he might need to add some weight in order to avoid racking up more injuries.

In a class full of talented receivers with more height or speed, Diggs might end up among the best in this draft thanks to his big-play ability. If he gets a chance to compete in more of a pass-friendly environment with quarterbacks who can get him the ball, he can really shine at the next level.
