Benzema Preparing for Betis
Monday, Aug. 24
"Karim Benzema looks set to be ready to return to the Real Madrid side for this weekend's match against Real Betis at the Bernabeu," noted AS.
"Benzema worked with the group during the first part of the training session when the players who started against Sporting trained at a lower intensity level," reported Madrid.
Last season saw the France striker make 46 appearances across all competitions. It was his lowest total since 2009-10, when he first arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, Benzema managed to score 22 goals in that period, 15 of which came in La Liga, leaving Grup 14's Sergi Dominguez to defend his "underrated" role at the club:
With a fully fit squad, Real undoubtedly sit as one of the strongest outfits in the world, but their goal supply fades in the absence of Benzema, so they'll be glad to see him back.
