St. Clair spent 11 years with San Francisco between 1953 and 1963. During that time, he appeared in 119 games and earned five trips to the Pro Bowl.
He entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990. The Hall of Fame shared a link to his enshrinement speech on Twitter:
As Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle wrote, St. Clair's career truly came full circle. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in San Francisco and then became a member of the University of San Francisco's football team before moving to the University of Tulsa for his senior year. The 49ers then drafted him in the third round of the 1953 draft.
St. Clair played his high school, nearly all of his college and all of his professional football in the same home venue, Kezar Stadium. After Kezar Stadium was demolished and rebuilt in 2001, the field was renamed Bob St. Clair Field in his honor.
