Upton Returns to Lineup
Monday, April 20
Dennis Lin of U-T San Diego revealed that Upton returned to the lineup against the Rockies:
Upton was out of the lineup as the Padres took on the Cubs on Sunday.
On April 18, Lin passed along comments from manager Bud Black, who said that Upton was day-to-day after suffering the injury.
Upton has been a big part of San Diego's solid 7-5 start to the season. The slugger, who was traded to the team in the offseason from the Atlanta Braves, is hitting .326 with three home runs and eight RBI this season.
His addition, along with that of Matt Kemp and Wil Myers this offseason, has rejuvenated the Padres offense and made the team a legitimate playoff contender this season. While there were some concerns that the spacious confines of Petco Park might mitigate some of Upton's power, he's certainly gotten off to a strong start.
