2015 NFL Draft Order: Where All 32 Teams Will Select in Each Round

Tyler ConwayApr 28, 2015

We all know by now that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the No. 1 overall selection in Thursday's NFL draft. The Tennessee Titans come next, and most casual fans can reasonably tick off a majority (if not all) of the first round off the top of their head.

Reading all 31,145 mock drafts on the Internet can ingrain such images in your cranium.

But what about the No. 201 pick? How about No. 67? Why must these picks go through life with absolutely no one having the slightest clue about which of the 32 teams selects in that spot? After all, these picks have feelings too. And sometimes they even become real, live players who help out your team every Sunday!

No more shall these shenanigans pass. By the time you are done reading here, you will have the full 257-pick lot seared into your brain.

Or, like, maybe you'll bookmark it in case you ever need to check up on the order of selections. Whatever.

In any case, here is a complete look at the full seven-round order for this weekend's draft festivities in Chicago.

Most Intriguing 1st-Round Teams

Tennessee Titans

Will they or won't they select Marcus Mariota? If it's the latter, which team will wind up with the No. 2 pick? Most mocks predict that Jameis Winston and Mariota will come off the board with the first two picks. Tampa's been fixated on Winston for months at this point, and Mariota's done enough in the predraft process to convince at least one team he's worthy of franchise status.

With the Titans having needs all over their roster, it's beyond prudent that they look into every trade possibility. It's essential. The most recent example we have of a similar situation is Washington's move for Robert Griffin III, which netted St. Louis a set of picks that just finally ran out. The Rams probably could have done better with those selections, but their haul was still good enough to send six players out as captains during last season's regular-season matchup with Washington.

Tennessee may find itself in a similar situation if teams get desperate. Mariota is in some ways the ideal modern quarterback, a big, fast dude with a good arm and impeccable collegiate resume. Guys who throw 104 collegiate touchdowns against 14 interceptions just don't come along every day.

Ken Whisenhunt needs to think long and hard about what he wants from a quarterback. If he's willing to bet his job status on Zach Mettenberger, a sixth-round pick who looked like one during a brief stint under center last season, then the Titans need to pounce on one of the deals they have on the table. If not, draft Mariota, and bank your future on his game translating to the next level.

The other alternative—staying at No. 2 and selecting a player who isn't Mariota—is a nightmare outcome.

Cleveland Browns

One of the teams considered in the Mariota mix, Cleveland enters Thursday with two first-round picks thanks to its move back a year ago. Most Browns fans still aren't sure how to feel about that deal, which allowed Buffalo to take Sammy Watkins and led to a series of moves that landed Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel in Cleveland.

Had Gilbert and Manziel looked like future stars in 2014, we'd be lauding this deal the same way some have St. Louis'. Instead, Gilbert performed like a replacement-level player, and the Browns have so much faith in Manziel that they're thinking about cutting their losses after 35 pass attempts.

Even if Cleveland stays put and decides to give Manziel one more season to win the job, the intrigue doesn't stop. Rectifying the Watkins decision should come in the form of a wideout at No. 12, with DeVante Parker being the most likely fit. The Browns could also consider making a smaller move to move up a few spots to land Kevin White or Amari Cooper, depending on who makes it past Oakland at No. 4.

The Browns would then essentially have a "free" pick at No. 19, where they'd select whoever's next highest on their board. Anyone from Todd Gurley to another receiver like Devin Funchess (who's a tight end, but whatever) or Jaelen Strong to another corner like Kevin Johnson is worth a look in this spot.

Also: Don't be surprised if the Browns consider trading back again. Someone's going to drop from a top-10 projection to that No. 19 spot. Seeing how well it worked out for them this time around would certainly make it worth a consideration, especially if they're picking up an additional second in the process.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys currently have Darren McFadden listed atop their depth chart. Unless their plan for 2015 is to go to sleep every night weeping about what could have been—which is what I assume Raiders fans and management did over the last seven years—that depth chart will change soon.

Adrian Peterson's desire to land in Dallas is the NFL's worst-kept secret. Peterson's from Palestine, Texas. He grew up a Cowboys fan. The organization has also stared at him longingly for years as the type of foundational talent who could put them over the Super Bowl hump. Now, I agree with that latter point about a 30-year-old running back about zero percent; Peterson could be cooked after taking what amounted to a full season off.

Nov 15, 2014; Athens, GA, USA; Georgia Bulldogs running back Todd Gurley (3) walks off of the field with training staff after getting a knee injury in the fourth quarter of their game against the Auburn Tigers at Sanford Stadium. Georgia won 34-7. Mandato

But if the Cowboys aren't able to consummate a Peterson deal by Thursday, they're going to look long and hard at filling their running back need at No. 27. Gurley and Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon are the obvious choices, though it's unclear whether either will be on the board. Gurley is once again a lock to be selected in the first round (despite an ACL tear) for reasons that remain entirely unclear, and Gordon's production is going to tempt running back-needy teams like Detroit and Arizona.

Assuming one of the pair is on the board when Dallas is on the clock, the world will get its Peterson answer depending on the selection. The Cowboys know they cannot fool around with a replacement-level running back behind Tony Romo next season. They found a formula that worked for the first time in forever, and being priced out of the DeMarco Murray chase can't alter their course.

If Gurley or Gordon winds up wearing the star, Jerry Jones will have for the second straight season made a prudent long-term move over his short-term happiness. If not, Jones will probably wind up with Peterson in a move that makes up for him not pulling the Manziel lever last season.
