Nathan to Chelsea: Latest Transfer Details, Comments and Reaction
Chelsea have completed the signing of exciting Brazilian prospect Nathan from Atletico Paranaense after agreeing to buy the midfielder for £4.5 million, the Blues announced Thursday.
"The 19-year-old Brazilian will join us on 1 July. Nathan, who has passed a medical and agreed personal terms, has earned a reputation as an attacking midfielder with an eye for goal and impressive pace.
Nathan said: ‘I am very happy to be joining Chelsea, the champions of England, and I hope I will be able to learn a lot and develop my game.’
Nathan, full name Nathan Allan de Souza, has represented Brazil at Under-17 and Under-20 level. He scored five goals in five games at the Under-17 World Cup in 2013 before being named in the team of the tournament.

The 19-year-old previously passed a medical with the Stamford Bridge outfit, per Neil Ashton and Jack Guaghan of the Daily Mail. He makes the switch to west London despite reported interest from Manchester City.
Nathan has impressed as an attacking midfielder in his fledgling career, and he scored five goals in five games at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2013.
He can also play on the wing and as a second striker, and he joins a growing Brazilian contingent at Chelsea, which includes the likes of Oscar and Willian.

With Nathan having broken into the Atletico Paranaense first team, a contract dispute with the Brazilian club has allowed Chelsea to snap up the player ahead of City, per Telegraph Sport.
No doubt Blues boss Jose Mourinho will be eager to work with such an exciting young talent who could potentially be a superstar for Chelsea in years to come.
Clearly, Nathan is by no means proven at the highest level, but he has represented Brazil's under-20 side on 14 occasions.
He may well be sent out on loan by Chelsea to get more game time, but Nathan is so talented that he may fight for a first-team spot as early as next season.
He joins a devastating attacking unit at Chelsea, though he is unlikely to be their only signing of the summer.
Nathan should thrive at Chelsea amid a hugely talented squad and a fine managerial setup.
Chelsea will no doubt be delighted to have pipped City to his signature, and he may well be a Premier League asset next term.
