Arsenal Star Hector Bellerin Is Faster Than Usain Bolt
April 13, 2015
The above graphic has been doing the rounds on social media, claiming that young Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin is faster than Usain Bolt.
Well, over 40 metres at least.
The young Spaniard broke the club's record over the distance recently, and the significance of his time was noted in a recent Daily Express report.
Theo Walcott had already knocked the original mark, Thierry Henry's 4.82s in 2003, to 4.42s and to everybody's surprise the full-back loaned out to Watford last season shaved a further 1/100th of a second off the mark.
To put that into context, if Bellerin had been lined up next to Usain Bolt in 2009 when he set the current world record of 9.58s for the 100m, at the 40m mark the Arsenal man would have been two metres in front of the Jamaican, whose IAAF split time was only 4.64s.
Bellerin, who only turned 20 in March, has emerged as an important player for Arsenal and has started 21 games for the Gunners this season.
Update: Tuesday April 14th
One man who is not impressed with the tales of speed coming out of Arsenal is British sprinter Richard Kilty.
Over to you Hector and Theo.
