NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament 2015: Complete Final Four Schedule, Bracket

R. Cory SmithApr 5, 2015

Haven't gotten enough of the Final Four action? Never fear, the NCAA women's tournament is here to keep the action going.

Similar to the men's tournament, several powerhouse programs made their way to the national semifinals. In fact, all four are No. 1 seeds, marking just the third time that has happened—1989 and 2012 were the others.

UConn comes in with hopes of earning a third straight title but will have to get past Maryland first. On the other side, Notre Dame is looking to get past South Carolina and secure a rematch with the Huskies.

Championship Prediction: UConn

Want to bet against UConn in the women's tournament? Sure, go right ahead. But after the show the Huskies have put on in the tournament, that's simply not something I'm willing to do.

With all of the attention on the men's game heading into this weekend, UConn is the clear powerhouse on the women's side. Rather than focusing on just his team before the Final Four, UConn coach Geno Auriemma chose to call out the men's game, via ASAP Sports:

"

I think the game is a joke. It really is. I don't coach it. I don't play it, so I don't understand all the ins and outs of it. But as a spectator, forget that I'm a coach, as a spectator, watching it, it's a joke. There's only like ten teams, you know, out of 25, that actually play the kind of game of basketball that you'd like to watch.

"

Tell us how you really feel, Geno.

Ironically enough, UConn is one of around five to six teams each season that can typically win the national championship. Heading into the Final Four, Auriemma has his program ready to repeat.

Much of the Huskies' recent success has been thanks to Breanna Stewart. The powerful forward has done it all for UConn en route to her second straight Associated Press All-American honor:

Averaging 17.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game this season, Stewart has paced the Huskies in both categories. With a double-double in three of the four NCAA tournament games, she's peaking at the right time in the postseason.

UConn legend Rebecca Lobo spoke about just how great Stewart might be in the program's history, via Carl Deffenbaugh of WSBT-TV:

Along with Stewart, the Huskies also feature Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, Morgan Tuck, Moriah Jefferson and Kia Nurse, who all average double-digit points per game. Having that wealth of scoring makes UConn as deadly as any team remaining.

This year's team won't finish undefeated like the 2013-14 version, but UConn still has a chance to make history. With Auriemma searching for his 10th title, he can further distance himself from Pat Summitt and every other women's coach.

Let's just say he's making the tournament somewhat laughable. Some might say it's becoming a joke.
