CJ Parker, Finn Balor and Latest WWE NXT Developmental News
CJ Parker and Finn Balor's careers at WWE NXT couldn't be more different.
Parker decided to head elsewhere, leaving Full Sail University behind him. Balor may be leaving NXT as well but to join Adrian Neville on the main roster.
Other NXT news touches on an MMA fighter saying he has a developmental deal in the works, Divas who impressed Vince McMahon and how a number of prospects aided the Sting vs. Triple H match at WrestleMania. It was an exciting week for both WWE and NXT as the former welcomed faces from the latter.
Who will be next to make that leap? The one certainty is that it won't be Parker.
Monthly Specials Confusion
1 of 5For a moment, NXT fans had reason to celebrate. A press release sent out by WWE, as seen on PWInsider and other outlets, stated that the WWE Network would air monthly TakeOver specials.
That has since turned out to be just an error.
ProWrestling.net reports, "WWE has confirmed to Prowrestling.net that they will continue running quarterly NXT live specials on WWE Network. A press release issued on Monday included a listing of monthly live specials, but apparently that was a misprint."
As thrilling as it would be for NXT to add to its calendar, this is for the best.
The WWE pay-per-view schedule is too crowded, watering down the product. NXT has far more time to build between big shows, and that's partly why they are so consistently successful. Thankfully, that will remain the case.
Word on Future Call-Ups
2 of 5Both Kalisto and Adrian Neville (now known as just Neville) appeared on Monday's Raw. WWE has made a habit of introducing new stars after WrestleMania and kept up the tradition this year.
The call-up process may not be done, though.
PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports that Finn Balor is booked to travel with the main-roster crew for the next few weeks. That's a possible sign of him being the next Superstar to leave NXT for WWE proper.
A former women's champ could also join him. Johnson writes, "There has also been a lot of talk about moving Charlotte to the main roster post-Mania as well."
That has been rumored for months. With as talented as she is, that's not a surprise at all. Her promotion may have accelerated over the weekend, though.
Johnson notes in another report that Vince McMahon watched Charlotte and Sasha Banks in action at a live event. He writes that McMahon "is said to be super high on Charlotte," and "I was told by several that Vince McMahon also loved Sasha Banks' work."
Fans have been loving her work for a long time. It's McMahon's opinion that changes careers, however. With the boss thoroughly impressed, it may not be long before the Divas division gets a boost from two top women.
CJ Parker Leaves NXT
3 of 5Stuck running in place at NXT, CJ Parker walked away.
As F4WOnline reports, Parker "gave notice last week with WWE and finished up as of the weekend." Parker then tweeted, "I would like to thank all the talent, coaches, staff and fans of @WWE."
Why did Parker go? PWInsider's Mike Johnson writes, "I was also told it was a case of Parker wanting to better himself by wrestling internationally and up his game."
He also had to be frustrated with his lack of progress at NXT. He had been part of the developmental brand since it was Florida Championship Wrestling. Other wrestlers moved past him. Other wrestlers won championships and stood in the spotlight.
Parker was often relegated to a "get the other guy over" role.
It's better that he sees what he can do with other promotions. Drew McIntyre and Curt Hawkins are proof of how one can blossom after getting out from the WWE's cellar.
MMA Fighter Claims to Be Signing Developmental Deal
4 of 5Is Phil Baroni heading to NXT to began a career in the squared circle? According to Baroni, yes.
Baroni tweeted before WrestleMania, "I'm getting flown in to sign my contract and see what @wwe and @Wrestlemania are about."
There has been no official word about this. From his timeline, it appears that he was at WrestleMania but likely as just a fan.
This story sounds far-fetched given how little star power he has and the fact that he turns 39 this month. Don't start making Baroni signs for your next NXT show just yet.
NXT Prospects Take Part in Triple H's WrestleMania Entrance
5 of 5
NXT had a presence at WrestleMania beyond Hideo Itami kicking folks in the chest in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal.
Enzo Amore, Solomon Crowe and others donned Terminator outfits for Triple H vs. Sting. Writing for PWInsider, Mike Johnson notes that "a number of NXT talents played the soldiers in the Triple H entrance at Wrestlemania."
Wrestling Inc posted a photo of the guys backstage with their masks off.
Last year, Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte accompanied The Game to the ring at the marquee event. Triple H made sure to bring his NXTers along for the ride again. In time, many of those prospects will be making their own WrestleMania entrances.
