Nick Saban confirmed that Sims has indeed torn his ACL, and commented on the situation, via Matt Zenitz of AL.com: "It'll be a lot of hard work for him to get back at all for next season. We're hopeful, and we know what kind of person he is, and he'll work hard to do it."
On March 29, Matt Zenitz of AL.com reported the Crimson Tide currently believe Sims' injury is a torn ACL. Sims spoke of a "setback" on his Twitter feed:
The highly touted prep star made seven receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown as a freshman. He was expected to compete for a starting job throughout preseason camp, where a number of wideouts will look to become Alabama's next Amari Cooper.
ArDarius Stewart, Chris Black and Robert Foster should all get a chance to step up in Sims' absence.
