Red Sox Pay the Yankees Back. Bombers Get Pounded 14-1
Let’s just put this game behind us. It got ugly very quickly. A.J. Burnett gave up 7 runs over the first two innings. Burnett wound up giving up 2 more runs in the 5th inning to make it 9-0 Red Sox. His pitching line was: L, 5IP 9H 9R 9ER 2BB 6K. Alfredo Aceves pitched the 6th & 7th inning, and had a lot of trouble doing so. He wound up giving up 3 runs. Aceves has never been the same since he made that spot start a while back. David Robertson pitched in the 8th inning, and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits.
The starting pitching and the bullpen were a complete disaster today. Girardi had to let Burnett stay in the game because he didn’t want to drain the bullpen.
The Yankees offense collected 12 hits, drew 3walks, and knocked in 1 run. Nick Swisher went 3-for-5, with a run and an RBI. Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 on the game. Robbie Cano went 3-for-4.
The rubber game should be a fun one with Josh Beckett and CC Sabathia taking the hill.
