Sting vs. Triple H: Icons Should Continue Feud Past WWE WrestleMania 31

Sting and Triple H have been in a heated feud ever since the WCW legend cost The Authority a match at Survivor Series 2014 for control of the company, but they only started to work toward a match during the past few months.

They will meet on Sunday to settle the score, but that is not where the feud should end. These two megastars need to keep their rivalry going past WrestleMania 31 to get the most out of this program.

WrestleMania is a transitional pay-per-view for WWE in that many storylines come to a conclusion and new ones are started, but every so often, WrestleMania is the halfway point in a feud.

The main reason Sting and Triple H's conflict should continue past Sunday is that one match simply isn't enough. We've been waiting 14 years to see Sting in a WWE ring.

In fact, scratch that. Many of us have wanted to see Sting in a WWE ring since he got big in the early '90s. When he was the surfer character, young fans were dying to see him face guys like Shawn Michaels.

If Sting wins on Sunday, where does that leave Triple H? If Triple H wins, where does that leave Sting? There has to be more to the story than one fight.

There's a lot of storyline possibilities that could be explored by continuing this program. Where it would go hinges on who wins the first match.

Let's say Sting wins on Sunday. Triple H is not the kind of character who will just sit back and accept the loss. He is going to be more dedicated than ever to putting Sting out of action for good.

As a heel authority figure who is supposed to have more power than anyone else, he would demand Sting give him a rematch. If he didn't, it would go against everything we know about Triple H.

Then there's the possibility nobody seems to think is possible. What if Triple H beats Sting? We're all assuming Sting will get the victory because he is the hero who is fighting against a tyrant. Unfortunately, the hero doesn't always win in WWE. It would be boring if they did.

Let's say Sting loses. Then what? Would he just sink back into obscurity, or would he be more determined to make life a living hell for The Authority?

The safe bet if the latter. In fact, it would be a much more interesting story if Sting lost, tormented Triple H and his crew and then fought him one more time at SummerSlam or a B-level PPV that needs a boost in star power.

There will be four PPVs between WrestleMania and SummerSlam. One of them could certainly benefit from a huge rematch like Sting vs. Triple H.

Sting is kind of like Brock Lesnar or The Rock. He doesn't need to appear every week to be effective. In fact, he would be better utilized in a minimal role because every time he appeared, it would be a special occasion.

WWE could even do what it did with John Cena and The Rock and have The Icon and The Game feud sporadically for an entire year between WrestleManias.

It would be a great end to his career if his final match took place at WrestleMania 31, but Sting still has plenty of life in him. WWE should try to get the most out of him before he hangs up his boots for good.

If they do have a second match, there should be some kind of stipulation to make it more dramatic. It could either be a specific type of match or be a regular match with a stipulation, such as Sting never returning if he loses or forcing Triple H to relinquish power if he is defeated.

If you look at it logically, there is absolutely no downside to continuing this feud past WrestleMania.
