WWE WrestleMania 2015: Bold Predictions for Massive Showcase

Aaron BowerMar 27, 2015

In terms of comparison to WWE's other pay-per-view shows, WrestleMania is all about the bold and the brave doing things that don't happen anywhere else.

It's an event where things happen that leave you on the edge of your seat and provide moments that stand the test of the time.

All of those moments come from brave booking decisions, the taking of chances that could quite easily backfire.

With this year's event shaping up nicely, all the matches on the card have the potential for something extraordinary to happen out of the blue.

As we stand just days out from the biggest show of the year, here are some bold predictions for what could go down at WWE WrestleMania 31.

Curtis Axel Wins Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

1 of 5

To be perfectly honest, there's a valid argument for five or six men to emerge as the winner of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal this Sunday.

Bizarrely, the match has been relegated to the pre-show for some reason, which hardly does a good job in boosting the prestige or honor of naming the match after Andre the Giant.

And while Damien Mizdow is the favorite in some quarters, Curtis Axel is a logical pick to triumph and win here.

Why? Axel has been enjoying a decent amount of TV time in recent weeks, and to be honest, he's been doing a fantastic job.

You only have to listen to the crowd reactions he's been getting to find proof of that. Although fans aren't exactly screaming the house down when he's in the public eye, he's certainly getting a lot more hype than most other guys in this match.

His "AxelMania" gimmick has been enjoyable to see, and he's perhaps the wrestler with the most momentum heading into this match. At the very worst, he's in the upper echelons of stars who have a legitimate reason to win.

Sheamus Returns to Cost Daniel Bryan Glory

2 of 5

As mentioned in the previous slide, the fact that the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal has been relegated to the pre-show seems to change a few things in terms of predictions.

Given how many people expected Sheamus to return in that match, it now seems unlikely WWE will have a return it's teased for weeks happen before the actual pay-per-view even starts.

So that raises the question: Where does Sheamus fit in when it comes to WWE's plans on the night?

The Intercontinental Championship match seems a good place to ease him back in, and given the hype that the match has received of late, it would be a good way to bring him back with a bang.

And the best way to do that would by having him storm in and cost one of the biggest stars in the match the win.

Although Daniel Bryan is a heavy favorite to pick up the win here, having Sheamus interfere and cost him the contest would hand him a ton of heat to work with.

Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan is a rivalry WWE have done a lot in recent years, but with Bryan now one of the company's biggest stars, this could be a feud on a whole other level to anything the two have worked in the past.

Lana Plays a Role in Rusev's First Loss

3 of 5

One of the most intriguing aspects of Rusev's feud with John Cena in recent weeks has been the mysterious absence of Lana from WWE TV.

Ever since she granted John Cena his rematch against Rusev at WrestleMania, she has suspiciously disappeared from our screens.

Rusev even addressed the situation in a recent promo, refusing to state where Lana was after she's spent the last year operating as his mouthpiece.

With her expected to return for WrestleMania, it will be interesting to see how WWE utilize her. In a bid to keep him looking strong after a (likely) first defeat to Cena, perhaps Lana could be brought into the outcome of the match?

Having her accidentally cost Rusev the match would make for an interesting storyline for Rusev heading out of WrestleMania as he continues to experience problems with The Ravishing Russian.

Bray Wyatt Makes It Two Straight Defeats for Undertaker

4 of 5

Given how it's a one-on-one match, predicting one man to simply win a contest at WrestleMania may not seem too bold a claim.

However, the possibility of Bray Wyatt unseating The Undertaker as The New Face of Fear at WrestleMania is a scenario that would have seemed unthinkable a year ago.

With Taker now heading into this match staring at a second straight WrestleMania loss, will WWE really inflict another loss on that previously unblemished record?

Well, why not? After all, Wyatt has done a magnificent job promoting this match, capped off with a quite superb promo on the go-home edition of Raw this past week.

His need for a win is greater than The Undertaker's here, and if Taker puts Wyatt over successfully, the sky could be the limit for Bray.

It's a result that just seems to make sense when you consider the likely futures of both men. Taker will disappear from TV again for a few months at least, while Wyatt's career could stall with a loss here.

Dean Ambrose Prevents Seth Rollins Cashing In

5 of 5

Seth Rollins is going to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase eventually, and when he does, it will have to be explosive.

He's held on to the case for nearly a year now, so windows of opportunity are running out fast.

Should WWE decide to pull the trigger this weekend at WrestleMania, there will be two questions fans will immediately ask.

Who will Rollins be cashing in on: Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns? And secondly, will the cash-in be a success?

If we were to address the second of those two questions, it would be interesting to see Rollins mess up the cash-in. And by doing that, something would have to go wrong, or someone would have to cost him the biggest chance of his career.

So why not Dean Ambrose? We need no reminder of how incredible Rollins vs. Ambrose was after The Shield split last year, and it was a feud that never seemed to fully go the distance.

With Ambrose surely in line for a major push again in the coming months, this could be the feud that once again steals the show every single week at WWE.
