Game to Watch: NC State vs. Louisville

In their first meeting as ACC opponents, NC State got the upper hand in Louisville. This time around, the Cardinals have aspirations of avenging that loss and heading to the Elite Eight for the sixth time under Rick Pitino.

The last time Louisville made the trip, it won the national championship in 2013. As for the Wolfpack, the last time they played in the Elite Eight was 1986. Jim Valvano was the head coach, and Vinny Del Negro was a blossoming sophomore.

This time around, NC State brings one of the best backcourts in the country with Cat Barber and Trevor Lacey. Both have shot well thus far in the tournament, and their athleticism has caught the attention of Pitino, via Pack Pride:

Combating the Wolfpack's guards will be Terry Rozier, who has been a cog for the Cardinals all season. Averaging 18.5 points and six assists thus far in the tournament, the sophomore has stepped up even more on the big stage.

As if Rozier needed any more motivation after coming off a 25-point performance against Northern Iowa, he was provided with some. BeeJay Anya was asked about the differences he sees between the Cardinals when he first faced them and now.

His answer was passed along by Jeff Greer of The Courier-Journal:

Greer also transcribed Rozier's thoughts on that response from Anya:

Luckily for both players, Anya won't be guarding Rozier on Friday night. Instead, he'll have to battle down low with Montrezl Harrell.

The Louisville big man had one of his worst games of the season in their first meeting, finishing 1-of-5 from the floor with seven points. His 13 rebounds helped, but the scoring touch will be a necessity for the Cards in the Sweet 16.

Lennard Freeman of NC State provided his take on Harrell's ability, via Pack Pride:

Much like the first contest, it will come down to the NC State forwards against Harrell. After the development they showed against LSU and Villanova, Anya, Freeman and Kyle Washington will be up to the task.

In a tight matchup that could go either way, the confidence and phenomenal play from NC State will finally break the curse.
