Tyler Vaughns to USC: Trojans Land 4-Star WR Prospect

Tyler Vaughns, one of the top skill-position players in the 2016 recruiting class, is off the market after committing to USC.

Greg Biggins of Scout.com provided details of Vaughns' announcement:

Per 247Sports' composite rankings, Vaughns is a 4-star recruit, the No. 2 wide receiver and the 33rd-best player overall in the 2016 class.      

He was expected to remain on the West Coast after playing high school football at Bishop Amat in California, with USC being the overwhelming favorite with 100 percent of the vote on 247Sports' crystal ball projections.

Vaughns even talked to Andrew Nemec of the Oregonian in October 2014 about how USC was his favorite school growing up.   

"I grew up rooting for USC, but that was [my] favorite school and that was my first offer," Vaughns said. "It meant a lot to me that they saw it that early—me growing up and maturing during football."

To his credit, Vaughns did say to Nemec at the time that he wasn't going to make any special announcements, making sure to get as much attention from other major programs as possible. 

There is no shortage of reasons for schools to covet Vaughns, as he has the kind of projectable frame at 175 pounds to go with tremendous size at 6'3" to be a matchup problem.

Finding playmakers with Vaughns' ability is something every coach dreams of, and how advanced he already is makes him more appealing. 

Vaughns' decision is a game-changing one for the 2016 recruiting class. He has a lot of hype to live up to, but there's nothing about his game that suggests it won't happen.
