Toews Records 500th Career Point in Win over Hurricanes

Bleacher Report MilestonesMar 24, 2015

Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews recorded the 500th point of his career during the third period of Monday's 3-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes, per the Blackhawks' official Twitter account.

The milestone point came with just 40 seconds remaining in the game, when forward Andrew Shaw scored an empty-netter—his second goal of the game—with Joakim Nordstrom getting the primary assist and Toews picking up the secondary assist.

The helper was Toews' 37th of the season, to go along with 23 goals. He now has 60 points for the fifth time in his eight-year career, having reached the mark in every season in which he has played more than 64 games.

With 218 career goals and 282 assists, the 26-year-old Canadian has always done a nice job of finding a balance between being a playmaker and finisher. He has put up 20-plus goals and 20-plus assists in each of his eight NHL seasons, with 30-plus assists in every campaign except for the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season.

Toews is one of 16 players to record 500 or more points in a Blackhawks uniform, and there's little question that he will eventually join the top 10 of the team's all-time scoring list. His 218 goals are good for 14th place in the franchise record books, while his 282 assists tie him with Bill Mosienko for 20th place.

Of course, as impressive as the statistics may be, Toews has long been known for his postseason heroics above all else.
