Eric Brewer Becomes 300th Player to Log 1,000 Career NHL Appearances

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Eric Brewer became the 300th player to record 1,000 career appearances when he took the ice for Saturday's game against the Ottawa Senators, per Sportsnet Stats.

Unfortunately for the 16-year veteran, Saturday's game was otherwise an unmemorable occasion, with a 5-3 defeat extending the Maple Leafs' latest losing streak to five games.

Brewer didn't have any points or shots on goal, and he had a minus-one rating over 22 minutes, 10 seconds of ice time.

Now playing for his sixth NHL team, the 35-year-old blueliner has largely had an unnoticed career since going fifth overall to the New York Islanders in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.

He has never played in the Stanley Cup Final or scored more than 29 points in a single season, although he did suit up for Canada at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, and then made his one and only NHL All-Star Game appearance in 2003.

A bit of an NHL nomad, Brewer has played 246 or more games with three different teams but has not played more than 332 games with any one squad. He logged 332 appearances in a St. Louis Blues uniform, 315 for the Edmonton Oilers and 246 with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Saturday's game marked Brewer's ninth appearance with the Maple Leafs, as he was recently acquired from the Anaheim Ducks along with a fifth-round pick in exchange for defenseman Korbinian Holzer.
