Lee Tolliver of The Virginian-Pilot noted it was on the cold side when the race day got underway early Sunday:
LaSalle Blanks of ABC 13 showcased that it was also a picturesque morning, though:
The Shamrock Marathon passed along a picture of the runners beginning the full race:
A little under two-and-a-half hours later it was Morseman, from Bath, New York, crossing the finish line first. He bested his nearest competition, Evan Zdroik from Watertown, Wisconsin, by more than two minutes thanks to a strong finish.
It's fair to say Morseman has been on quite a roll lately. Last weekend, Shawn Vargo of The Leader noted the New York native won marathons on back-to-back days:
The Shamrock Marathon confirmed he's added another title to his resume:
A short time later Sexton, from London, Ontario, finished first among the women's competitors. In fact, her impressive showing was good enough to finish third overall. She outpaced the next closest female finisher by nearly six minutes.
Tolliver noted her triumph:
In the end, the top five finishers in both the men's and women's competitions all crossed the finish line in less than three hours. There were some hard-fought battles for positioning, but the two winners were a clear step above the rest on this day.
It's time to celebrate for Bryan Morseman and Leslie Sexton.
