Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Brendan Rodgers' Summer Targets
Liverpool have made in-demand Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto a priority target this summer, according to latest reports, while a move for Benfica youngster Romario Balde is also reportedly in the works.
Vietto has shot to prominence in La Liga this season, and his agent Jorge Cyterszpiler is quoted by Metro (h/t Mirror's Liam Corless) admitting the South American may move on from El Madrigal this summer:
"He [Vietto] might leave in the summer. It is normal that the best clubs in the world are after him. If big clubs make an offer, we need to talk. The offer must be very good, not only for us but also for Villarreal."

With 20 goals across all competitions this term, Vietto has proved to be a prolific finisher among Europe's elite, earning the attention of some of the continent's biggest clubs.
The Mirror's Ed Malyon recently highlighted just what a talent the 21-year-old is after he was omitted from Gerardo Martino's Argentina squad:
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers may have to sell off some of his current assets before being able to make a move for Vietto, though, with a number of Reds forwards failing to live up to expectations.
Mario Balotelli hasn't been the success some might have expected on Merseyside, while Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini have been forced to settle for bit-part roles on the fringes of the squad.

What's more, Divock Origi will return from his loan spell at Lille this summer and look to contend for a place in Rodgers' squad, providing yet more competition for Daniel Sturridge's place up front.
Despite his age, Vietto has settled quickly in Europe and gained the admiration of Spanish writer Sergi Dominguez, who recently hailed his transition from South American football:
A less accomplished target for Rodgers this summer is Benfica's Balde, who was recently scouted by the Reds in a UEFA Youth League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk, per Metro's Lewis Rudd.
According to UtdReport.com, Manchester United representatives were also present at the fixture, where Balde made a laughable error from the penalty spot before watching his side exit the competition:
Despite his Panenka mistake, Liverpool remain interested in a move for Balde, who is capable of playing on either wing or as a more central attacking resource.
The 18-year-old isn't as experienced as some of the wide talents already at Anfield, but with Rodgers recently admitting Raheem Sterling's contract situation remains unsolved, the Merseysiders may soon require addition in that area:
It would be a huge blow for the club if Sterling were to leave Anfield this summer, but Balde has earned his own plaudits as one of the Eagles' most promising prospects.
Rudd wrote that Borussia Dortmund and Lazio are also keeping tabs on the teenager, with Liverpool facing a fight should they wish to invest in Balde's potential.
